Just trying to get to the bottom of the Wedge history - so if anyone knows the answers please feel free to post.
According to the Steve Heath Wedge bible :
It quotes 'The wedges came out in late 1979 after several years gestation as a replacement for the M'.
It then gives a more detailed cronological history :
1980 -
Jan : Brussels motor show - Tasmin Fixed head launched
Sept : First plus 2 model
Oct : British motor show: Tasmin Convertible and plus 2 launched.
So - was a Tasmin launched at the British motor show in 1979 ?
or was Brussels 1980 the first launch ?

Prototype Tasmin on the road in 1978.
First production cars off the line in November 1979.
Launched at the Brussels Motor Show in January 1980.
DHC and 2+2 versions unveiled in time for the London Motor Show in October 1980.
(According to, variously, Graham Robson's "The TVRs" and John Tipler's "TVR The Complete Story".)

As far as I was aware the Tasmin was launched in 1979. There is an article in Car magazine from that period which praises the original 280 coupe rather highly. This is probably amongst the magazines I have had to throw out due to moves etc., but I'll have a rummage.
But haven't we been through this before when there was a slight crossing of swords with TVRCC? We said this year is 25th anniversary of the Wedge whereas TVRCC said that whilst the car was announced in 1979 the first cars were delivered to customers in 1980 so in their view 2005 is the 25 anniversary!
I think there was a separate thread on this but it has been mentioned, esp. recently by Mrs Hyde on the BBWF thread.
