Can anyone recommend a good product to restore heat hardened, beginning to show cracking, leather seats back into buttery-soft leather?

At a TVR event once an upholsterer talked to me about the car and about protecting the leather.

He told me once the cracks appear you can't repair that but you can prevent further 'damage' with regular treatment. He said that first clean the leather with Saddle Soap - available at many horse tackle shops/flea bay etc - and then use Lanolin & Beeswax Leather polish. He told me this fed the leather better than any of the non natural feeds sold these days. The leather wipes are useless apparently and dry the leather out rather than feed it.

When getting the saddle soap and the polish make sure you get one that leaves a matt surface or you leather will end up looking glossy and fake.

I took his advice and the seats came up a treat. I feed the leather pretty much every month now and clean it with the saddle soap about every 3 months.

Not finished yet but going well.
I used the furtiture clinic as advertised in sprint a few months ago, some of the really knackerd leather i removed and replaced with new, the good thing about recolouring the leather is replacing it is easy because you don't have to match it. I also had the seat part of the seats taken off and built up with new foam as they were a bit saggy but in good order...
The recolouring kit....good value
works well
And easy to use (providing you dont do the piping in a contrasting colour)
Oh and use a compressor, you'll know what I mean when you reserch the kit.

Good luck

Adam

Gliptone produce a good leather care range. From cleaning to feeding the leather.

Thanks for the replies. I'm in the states and don't subscribe to Sprint. Would you provide web links for the furniture clinic?

Thanks
George

Woolstenholme's do good stuff too. Especially if the colour has scraped/worn off and you want to get it back - they do re-connelising kits.
