Just ahd a call back from the North Lakes Hotel. Rooms at the moment are on the expensive side of £130 per room. She said no problem of doing a deal but would struggle to get it much lower than £100 per room. Gee thanks for nowt eh!!!
Still got another option, Lancaster Holiday Inn, which was the better choice I thought.

I think 'a poll' needs to be done to see if wedgers are willing to travel oop norf for next years jobby. No good looking into things if no one wants to travel

Good call on the poll Tony. No point in doing the ground work up in the North Lakes if people will not travel

I would be up for it.

295 miles..5 hours driving..eek..£130 per room per night..yikes..How many miles does a V8 do per gallon?..I might be too expensive for me...Although i could get saving now and as long as the car or my new car makes it...It could be a possibility..Im more concerned about the drive back after a weekend of rusty..headache

To be totally correct Wedg1e, as the Holiday Inn is in Lancashire it isn't even south lakes. But thats just me being pickywhistle Should've retitled the post as 'somewhere up there' laugh

A room booked there now is £77 per night, (so there's a saving zigdrink)not sure if that includes breakfast as I haven't spoken to them yet. I'm sure a deal could be done on that price though when I ring in the morning.

Another thought I had about moving things 'intat'north' is about possible traders etc. Not sure if they would be willing to travel so far for minimal sales. 242 miles from that London.
Chimpafrolic would probably have to travel with Sollitude in his car hehegetmecoat

220 miles for me - Zig look at the A1 it might be shorter. 300 miles is 12 gallons each way = 75 quid. Ettington woulda been £50 each way for you too.

Yep - count me in, looks like a bigger car park with more open spaces, nice location by the river. Easy bus ride into town for Friday night session. Seaside close by.

That's a fair point... in fact the Penrith hotel has a nerve claiming to be North Lakes whistle as it's on thw wrong side of the M6 hehe

Cheap digs in Barrow-in-Furness.
Now that is proper South Lakes. The deep South.

TT - if your not going to get the number's from the chaps down south then what about a Holiday Inn around Chester or North Wales area for a good wedge fest you do need 50 + cars. London - Chester approx - 210 miles.

jonny.

hehe Cheap digs in Barrow for a reason......

Before you all get carried away by a move 'up North' I'd remind you all that the last BBWF held in Blackpool was quite poorly attended iirc and that was almost a 'Back Home' so there's a danger that you'll end up losing a lot of the guys from teh midlands and the South.

Ettington Chase while not necessrily being the most exciting location in the world is, on balance, a pretty good venue offering a decent car park, decent rooms, food and and a central location.

Totally agree with you on all of that, thats why putting the feelers out first is important. I would be totally happy to go back to EC.
I have just spoken to the Holiday Inn, the resevations girl didn't seem too positive about taking over the car park or about trade stands. I have to put requirements in an email to the manager for a better answer. Will do that tonight

I think we will be hard pushed to find another Ettington..As i said before when i asked them how they felt about us they said they enjoyed having us there..Where else are we gonna find an all night bar..Beautifull girls that tuck you in of a night and then wake you in the morning with a cup of tea and a smile..Scrub your back in the bath and wash your dirty grundies..scratchchin...actually i think i dreamt that last bit..But the all night bar is true..wahey..beer

As stated just exploring options, Blackpol was not to badly attended either around 60 wedges in total, so not to bad.

We could just have a mini fest in the region maybe if interest is not as great as expected.
