Hi

As posted before I decided this week to replace the hoses on the SEAC as well as doing a couple of other jobs etc.

To make things easy I had planned on removing the bonnet as the top hose and cross pipe were trapped under it when open.

So I removed the bonnet to give me access etc!

After I replace the hoses I found that the top rad hoses and cross pipe were still getting trapped under the bonnet when I opened it. To the point that the bonnet was moving on it's hinge bolt unless I did it up tight!

I then tried to closed the bonnet and eek the bonnet bolt that side started splitting the wing when I closed the bonnet and pulling it self out of it as well!!

Has anybody had this problem an know of a fix!!!

Andy

The bottom front edge of the bonnet on my 390 sliced a bit off the top hose every time it opened, causing a split and a small fountain of steam and very hot antifreeze.

So I cut the swan-neck in half and mounted the bottom half 90 degree bend backwards and under the bulkhead (I don't know what it is called but previously the top-hose went above it) using a couple of exhaust U clamps. Two MGB top hoses were used - one between the swan neck and the 90 degree bend the other between the 90 degree bend and the radiator inlet.

My 390 doesn't have power steering so this change may not fit in all cases, think it through first before cutting anything. Call me if you want to see the conversion, pictures won't really show the detail.

Good luck - Russ
