Hi Peeps..Took the rad out this morning and someone is coming to collect to recore it..I should get it back early next week..I have also put a bid in on fleabay for a pair of 8" kenlowe fans The bid is only £30 and i will go £40 tops but they are brand new never been used!..I will then have a bracket made to fit them to..Question: Will i need to have the second fan on a relay and need to buy a wiring kit for dual fans?..I will be replacing the temperature control with one that has a housing that the sensor sits in instead of the one that has mastic holding it in..I was going to replace all the hoses but they are not cheap so might just replace ones that are naff..Cheers..Ziga

Mate, what's wrong with you fan?

And yes, replacing good hoses won't cure overheating.

Remember the chat the other day regards to wasting cash..?!

Hi Mate..Well the exsisting fan sometimes makes a bit of a weird noise like its struggling to turn and then its ok..I was contemplating re-using it but maybe have a bracket made up as the fixing toggles that you push through the fins of the rad actually damage it..My top and bottom hoses look ok so i will probably leave them alone..The only one that looks a bit iffy is the one from the header tank to the heater..That could be a pain..So yes im being carefull not to spend on things that dont need spending on..The twin fans are the only extravagance but i still might not win the bid yet...I dont want the old fan to suddenly stop working as its the only one on there..I may just give it a clean..Cheers..Ziga

You should wire both fans through relays; DC motors are prone to huge start-up currents that fry switch contacts, so use the thermal switch to trigger the relays. Kenlowe do a 10A+ thermostat but I still wired mine to feed the fan relays rather than the motor directly.

Ha ha haa. mr zigs been told off. redcard

As far as cooling goes, with a re-cored rad the cooling is going to 99.7% better than the .3% you had before. I would be cleaning the fan up a bit then it maybe won't be making a noise on start up. A constant noise while running is far more serious.

Alright..alright...Joke over..grumpy..(only messing)..
I have been a bit frivolous and painted the rad support and plate underneath it..But it never cost anything as it was the horrible HT paint that i painted the rocker covers with a while ago..So it had some use after all....(I had some beige left but i would never live it down)..Again..Cheers..Ziga

Everyone's needing to stop bhing [oh i meant birching] Zig, it's just unlucky that all these things have happened but you've sorted most of them yourself.
Anyway it's cheaper and healthier spending money on your car rather than drinking that evil Rusty stuff.lol.

Good luck.

I have over 5,000 of them..They were a pressie from my aunt who used to work there,She said "You have two choices" 1. Ill give you something old to invest in for the future or 2.You can have 25% of my estate when i die..I choose option 1, That was in 1970 and i was only 7 years old..I think they are worth about a penny now..So i made £50 in 41 years..Thats about £1.21 a year.. Shes now worth around half a mill...rolleyes..scratchchin..Damn it!!!
