Hi peeps..Well the rad has been expanded by 5mm in depth which doesnt sound much but now the fan wont go in front of the rad...I now have two options starting with the cheapest...1.Cut the valance in front of the rad to allow the nose of the fan housing to pass through it..Or..2.Buy a complete new fan with some sort of cowling...I have drawn the amount that will need cutting out on the valance which is in front of the rad...Your thoughts please..Cheers..Ziga

Remember the KISS princables and thus way you get to fit fill and check to see the car will run at a stable temp.
Looking good there Zig you have come a long way keep it up pal

Have you not got enough room to space the radiator back the required amount, thicker rubber insulation washers or something similar?

Hi Mate..Ive tried that but the bottom of the rad hits the power steering pipes and the bottom rail of the rad support...I think notching out the body is the only way to go for now...Cheers..Ziga

I would be notching that out without a second thought. Remember to paint it over straight away though, if it doesn't need filler/resin on it first.

Just reverse the fan, and turn the blades round, try that 1st, if not get the saw out.

Yes I got the Pipe thanks a lot for that.

Is that what Peter Wheeler's dog, Ned, did when he 'designed' the indicator recesses on your 'chimp' ?

Do what Leigh suggested and turn the fan around and use it as a sucker.

Hi Phil...Unfortunately i cant get the blades off to turn them round..Its probably easier to cut a section out..I made up the brackets already and would need another way of fitting if i did manage to turn it round...I need slightly flatter bolt heads as the ones on it protrude a little..Cheers..Ziga

What about putting it in at a slight angle by spacing it at the top but not the bottom?

Just run the + and - to the fan the wrong way around and it will spin backwards, so you csn mount it behind.

Or else put the fan in the nosecone, mount the rad, then attach fan to rad.

Zig, exactly what part of the fan is fouling.

Can you remove some of the plastic fan grill with your Dremel to get enough clearance for instance?

As long as the blades are free to rotate I don't see an issue with losing a little bit of the safety grill.

It's not like it needs to be Health & Safety complaint is it?

Just a thought?

Hi Mate..Its actually the housing for the motor, You can see a bit of the paint has rubbed off where it was a bit tight before but as the rad has been expanded 5mm in depth to accomodate the 3x core it is now 6-7mm further forward...The bolts on the brackets on the side of the fan where it meets the rad could do with being flatter but even so the fan would still not fit properly..I could try adams suggestion but theres hardly any room between the front of the rad and the bodywork..I will have another look tomorrow to see if there is any other way round it..Cheers..Ziga
