Picked my mum up form Dartford (70 years old and loves the wedge) steamed through London, just passing Earls Court and is that smoke coming out of the bonnet vent?
Mum: No it's that diesel in front!
Accelerate hard away from the lights on the Chiswick flyover roundabout, glance in the mirror and the road behind is thick with oil smoke, oh shit that aint the diesel!
Pull over rapid like into a side road, oil flowing off the front, coming through the front o/s wheel and spraying all up the side! Oh bigger shit!
The hose that takes oil to or from the oil filter has fractured low down where the jubilee clip has rubbed it as the engine rocks under revs where it runs close to a second hose. RAC spots it easy enough and manages to shorten it and reclamp after he takes me to a garage to buy new jubilee clips (amazed he doesn't carry these) and oil.
Anyway, moral of the tale: check your hoses carefully as this seems to be a poor design and he also noticed the very front of the pulley is starting to rub at the hoses that run across the top again as the engine rocks!
Engine was virtually empty of oil!

Daren't chance it Alan, RAC will only tow me ten miles as I found out I don't have recovery! It's due to go to the V8 Centre on Friday anyway for a service in time for the Goodwood Festival of Speed and of course BBWF!
I'll still be there Tuesday but in the Omega
