Commiserations thats a right censored the proverbial - and another fine wedge lost to us allweeping.
I hope something good comes out of the situation but insurance companys are never your friend when you need em to be, only when it comes to getting their payments!

Sorry to hear it too - but what are the details??

- Insurance company
- Category of write-off?
- Got any pics of the damage?
- Is the car still in your posession?

If they are trying it on with the buyback option it might be worth waiting until it gets sent to the breakers then buying it for less. Or you can make a counter-offer, I would suggest £1200, you have nothing to lose.

It'll go to auction and they'll take what they can get. Some they win, some they lose. When my bike was written-off I had the option to take a fat cheque or take £2700 and keep the bike - so they valued the salvage at £2400. I reckoned I could sort the majority of the issues but live with the remaining cosmetic damage for £700 and pocket £2000 but there was always the uncertainty about frame damage etc. that we couldn't see so I took the fat cheque. I found the auctioneers that had the bike and registered as a buyer; a mate of mine was going to go halves if we could buy it back for a sensible price, repair it and sell it on, but in the event the bike sold for £2350, almost exactly what the insurers had priced it at. Realistically we'd have had to throw a grand at it to make it really tidy again and for only a few hundred more, most people would have bought a lower-mileage bike that wasn't Cat. D.
It shows up on the DVLA website as not taxed since, so it's either in a shed awaiting rebuild, been broken for spares or has left the country.

Or like some cars I've known to have been written off, since been used purely on track / raced and not made road legal again.

I've got a spare front end (350i) for free if its any use.

I'd let it go to auction and bid on it there - my 400SE cost me £1230 Cat C

Hmmm, Pan Europeans are not noted for their capabilities on the track biggrin 300Kg and only 117bhp doesn't make for fast lap times.
