The 400SE on Ebay, does anyone know any history on the car, it seems it had a V8Developments 4.5 fitted at some stage, and the reason the current owner bought the car.

I'll be changing the Engine and Gearbox that's in the Racer over the winter, so I could drop these straight into the car and keep another one on the road, but concerned there may be other serious problems with the car.

hi the car used to belong to a freind of mine a while ago,he had the paint done, which looks ok but could do with a respray, depending how fussy you are,and the veneer peeled of so he had them polished, which on a sunny day is not a good idea as it reflects the light...lol dont know what he was thinking of,while he had it he changed the engine twice and a gearbox, but unfortunately it suffered from shocking electrics, especially behing the dash and down by the battery,i cant remember what the outriggers were like ,prob want a look at as he bought it as a resto project but only ever got round to the paint...having said that i did make an offer to the seller but i think he wants a fair bit for it prob for the engine he just took out of it...
if any one has a 390 or 400 for sale that needs tlc thats cheap please let me know...

Just checked the ad again it's up to £1700, only 14 hrs to go, wish I cabt help but think it seems like a potential great buy, ive always wanted a black 400, but my suspicious nature makes me think surely it would have been more profitable got the seller to sell the car as a whole package? Or is it pretty fooked? It would be great to see what somebody does with it, I wish I had the time and space right now, to take a chance.
Anybody here having a bid?

I put in a opening bid, but seeing as its running not there is not MOT seems it could need more than just TLC, plus once you add a good engine and gearbox and headers then it could work out quite expensive.

Why not buy it and turn it into an electric Wedge. Install an electric motor which seems to be so fasionable these days that even Nissan have built one. The TVR sound would'nt be much of a problem. A couple of external speakers and a 2000 watt amp should do it. Think of the advantages. You could still do the tunnel run and be loud and proud, yet you could switch the sound off when not needed and still drive along. Imagine a wedge overtaking someone in total silence. They would think it was an alien craft. There would be no road tax to pay, it would do infinate amount of miles to the gallon and the insurance would be very cheap as it would probabably be dog slow, but hey you can't have everything.

Some should buy it and turn it into a hybrid.
Electric motor in the rear, the engine bay full of batteries and a geny to top up the charge.
The motor could be hooked up to a gear box for that athentic feel but use lithium ion not lead acid.
I think it could be very interesting and beat the road fund licence plus city tax hehe

Hi

Well it made £2050!!!!

That's without engine and gearbox and a suspect body and respray etc!

scratchchin

So what's my 350i (no 1) worth completely restored back to as near as it left the factory?

My SEAC?

My Tasmin FHC (No 30)?

I could be sitting on a gold mine or somthing! party

would like to know whta becomes of it, or what the new owners intentions are for it?
We were discussing this at work, and wondered would a 350 chevy fit in there? A old school iron block?
