Hi

Well the decision has been made!

BBWF is on June the 29th and 30th, 2012 at Ettington Chase.

The Hotel have confirmed the date and they are now looking at the room rate and reserving a quantity of rooms for us!

Now we will have two choices of room rate being offered:

1. A basic rate less 10% (for one or two nights.) If we hold our evening function at the Chase. i.e. Saturday night use of Bronte room, with us or them providing a Hog roast or something similar!
(This way they will keep Zig and other drunks at the bar spending money!)

2. A basic rate (for one or two nights.) This rate will let us have our evening fuction at the Pub or similar!
We can then either carry on drinking in the pub or come back to the Hotel and drink in the bar till the bar is closed!

Personely I think the 10% off is a good deal, as we get the use of the room FOC etc!

If everybody is happy with that I will confirm this when they come back with the room rate etc!

Hi Andy..If it can be done how it was this year i think it would be great..The hog roast was delicious and well priced..The rooms were a good rate..The evenings entertainment venue was perfect as was the entertainment..As for them keeping me at the bar..Well there will be no problem there as i drink until ive had a skin full..Even if it is 3.00am and i must add i wasnt drunk..Just a bit tipsy..Of course i cant speak for everyone else..I think all that needs addressing is making sure the car park is not littered with non wedges or gravel and the drive out needs a pre-run and maybe some arrowed sign posts at junctions...(Small ones)..And possibly a drive out for dinner to the pub on the friday or a burger van concealed up the road..With some surprise entertainment and this time a rolling road i think it will be another success..Ziga

I would go with your first choice as well Andy. Basically because we are there already and anything is easily set up taken down.
The price of drink was mentioned this year as not being the cheapest, but I am sure anywhere else would only be at best 30-40p per pint cheaper. So worst case scenario, after 15 pints the price difference is only £6. Not the end of the world.

After 15 pints I would either besilly or probably more likesleep

Not that I would drink that many, although I don't usually count. It was just a round figure to put things in perspective. Initially the beer seems expensive compared to other places, but it's not a lot really.

I stayed at The Hilton in Glasgow 2 years ago, it was £4.80 a pint. Nearly fell off my stool. We were staying first class and had access to complementary drinks in the first class lounge. I was waiting for my mate so didn't have the access key so had 3 pints at the 'normal' bar. yikes nearly £15 for 3 pints

Mark

Lets see if we can sort some of your concerns! (Note some)

Car park. This needs the Hotel to cordon off the car park from mid Thursday. I can't see them agreeing to that but I will ask, and let's see what happens.

Ref the gravel, that was a one off due to them sprucing up the garden!

The drive out is a problem, which I have already suggested needs a planing trip before the event to find a much more interesting route. The distance people want to actualy drive is another consideration. Suggestions please?
Ref signs that is a thing which may or may not need to be discussed. But the problem I can see is you have to find some body to actualy do it! This year we were supposed to have signs in the car park, but that didn't happen mainly due to the weather, but it didn't happen and that was just the car park!

Fridays evening meal. Various ideas have been suggested before, but most people just do there own thing. Personaly I think enough is being organised so let people do there own thing! If they want to go out for a meal let them organise it them selves!

Ref Rolling road. That has been discussed before, this year there was a no show due to the weather! Who can blame them for that!

I hope this answers the questions.

If anybody wants to discuss these points please do!

Andy

Well lets hope the weather is on our side next year..I for one certainly got drenched while everyone else was huddled under the main gazeebo!!..curse..(There are pictures to prove it)..hehe
I think it was mentioned that someone had a rather large marquee tent and if there was a way of getting to EC then it might not be a bad idea..Just in case it does decide to pish down..As for the signs maybe we didnt need them as when we shuffled everyone around on the saturday there was enough people helping to make it work..As for the route perhaps a little nearer the time we could have a look at a possible routes via routeplanner or google earth and i wouldnt mind going round with someone on the friday day time to put up small plastic..(Water proof) arrows at main junctions to help point people in the right direction..And as adam suggested last time maybe there was too many right turns as turning left is a lot quicker and easier..driving

I thought the bar prices were ok at Ettington..I bought 5 pints of beer..(Varied)..An orange juice..A glass of coke..And a glass of diet coke..£13...Trickie bought two pints and i think it was one glass of wine and it came to £9..As for the rusty,Well after half a pint of it and around 10 pints the first night i couldnt believe i was still standing..The saturday night i only had a little sip of the rusty and around 10 pints of guinness, about 4 london prides and a couple of JD and cokes throwm in and i was the only one left at the bar at 3.30am..And i was up at 7.00am for a shower and brekkie..Albeit a bit wobbly..The rusty rules in my book..Although i dont think i would sit indoors now drinking it as i would probably kill a couple of my neighbours...Its good in the right company..The food at EC left a lot to be desired..The starter was a teaser..I think the mackerel on a bit of toast was actually a sticklebat and someone on our table had fury bread.yuck.And the main course..Well the chips were so hard they scared the lamb off and the teaspoon of ratatouille wouldnt of filled a mouse..Let alone a very hungry Ziga and you have all seen the size of my darby.. hehe..

I agree, helps to offset the bar bill IMHO.

Hi Crawford

EC have yet to confirm the exact rate yet!

But going by there published rates on there web site, less our 10% discount, the rate will be around £75 per room per night.
Which is an increase on previous years, but as the basic price has not changed for a couple of years plus the Olympics the increase to me is not that high!

They have agreeded to reserve a small number of rooms for us, but after they have gone it will be on a first come basses.

They are also looking at doing seperate/cheaper deals on the cost of beer etc for us!

Obviously when I can confirm the actualy rate's etc I will post them up!

But one thing is set and that's the date!

29th and 30th of June 2012 is BBWF!
