The rear lower outer bushes on one side was an advisory on the last mot so I want to replace them before the next mot. Can the outer bushes be replaced without taking the H frame off? if so I will only have the outers replaced otherwise if the whole thing needs to be removed then I might as well have all four replaced. Also I,ve been told that the ordinary rubber ones are no longer available and the polly type ones are about &20.00 each.

Hi Mate..Not sure if we are talking about the same thing but im having my rear lower susupension bushes and wishbone bushes replaced and they are using stock bushes..Not poly..I totaled up the set in poly for mine and it came to £150..Dan taylor TVR quoted £230 to replace all mine and the trailing arm pin and mount on one side which im supply as they dont keep them in stock and the 4 wheel alignment all for that price..Inc Vat..I did ask if poly bushes are any better but was told they are just more expensive..Cheers..Ziga

Hi Zig. Thanks for the quick reply. Yes I think we are talking about the same thing. On mine I want to replace the osr wishbone outer bushes simply because the previous owner seems to have replaced the other side, it seems with ordinary stock (rubber) ones as they are in good condition. What I want to know is if I can repace the osr outer ones with the wishbone in situ, as if this is possible then I will only change the outer. Also if Dan Taylor have quoted you for non poly then non poly must still be available. A local classic car workshop is undertaking the job and they have done some jobs for me in the past at very reasonable prices. Though I did not ask him how much this job would cost or if he could change them in situ I am sure their price will be very reasonable and he is confident they can do the job. Once I get hold of the bushes I will take them to him for fitting and I will then ask how much it will be. I'll keep you informed with further developments.

I did mine recently and the hardest part was getting the bolts out, they were rusted in solidly, I ended up cutting the bolts with a thin (1mm) grinder/cutting blade, then heating them and applying some well aimed brute force with a big hammer and drift.

Good luck I hope your bolts come out easier!

I'd contact Richard Thorpe @ Rt Racing for the bushes.

If they have to be pressed in, and the wishbone has to be removed, then I might as well buy all four and perhaps the four nuts and bolts that hold it in. (just incase they are rusted solid) That way, hopefuly the garage will be able to complete the job successfully. all I need now is someone to point me in the right direction for purchasing the non poly bushes. I want to buy these as that is what's fitted to the other side as far as I can tell.

http://www.polymax.co.uk/Catalogue%20Product%20Pag...

You just need to find d,D,L1 and L2 wink

More sizes and some useful background stuff here:

The info I have scrawled here suggests that the Wedge bushes are Imperial sizes but I can't state that categorically.
