Hate to say it but i love it!! lol
If there is a mot failure slip with it and the reserve isnt silly it could be a good way into the land of wedge's...................

Is that the yellow one? Looks to be in fantastic condition comsetically.

Of course, it always depends on what its like under the skin.

Rear brakes are a pig to work on (mine need them coming totally off), and if it needs new calipers they're around 150 quid each.

Still, even if you budgeted for £1000 worth of work, that would still be a very tidy motor for the money, if you could live with the yellow! biggrin

I am a fan of yellow and I think it suits the wegdge and makes it stand out and looks awsome. My one is yellow and I get no end of attention where ever I go. Something I never had to this extent with previous wedges I've owned. After all a wedge is all about posing. Having said that I'd be very weary of buying a wedge that has been standing for so long. A rolling stone gathers no moss and all that. I speak from experience. All the components on that wedge has been standing for so long, they could start failing one by one, even if you did the work to put it through an MOT. But, love is blind. If you are in love with it go for it. It would then be a labour of love.

You know what Zig. You are absolutely right. I guess you too are speaking from experience. I'd just hate to see someone get so frustrated and jump off. lol.

You know the more I look at that car, the more I start to have my doubts. I reckon the yellow is a respray, the underbonnet shots show a different colour in the engine bay. Might even be Nimbus Grey like mine.
It also doesn't have any of the body decals, again another sign it's been sprayed.

The big plus points to me seem to to be a very tidy leather interior, and what looks to be a very clean and tidy hood. Two things which to sort are expesnive.

On my car (which apparently has been sitting a long time) I'm changing/rebuilding the whole of the braking system, and the clutch hydraulics. Plus all the engine hoses, ignition leads, and possibly some suspension bushes (the front end was already done for me when I got the car! biggrin).
This yellow one would need that doing I reckon.

Looks almost TOO crisp, as though it's a recent respray. Underbonnet colour certainly could be something like Nimbus Grey; some people who can't be arsed to do the job properly paint the engine bay matt black but that looks a bit grey and seems glossy rather than matt. Lack of decals also point to a cheapo job; most owners would want a factory appearance.
Number plate is Northern Ireland issue, not casting aspersions but it's long been a trade dodge to take crashed cars to NI, repair them, put a NI plate on and bring them back across, in the process of which losing the insurance database trace...
Most people who specifically WANT a NI plate seem to be called Daz, Caz or Maz, that one just looks like random letters but could be someone's initials I suppose. Or could just have been a NI car that ended up in Wales biggrin
Interior seems VERY tidy for a car that's been stood 10 years but photos often lie and valeters are very good these days.
It needs seatbelts which suggests they've failed for being frayed: they rub on the steel cross-beam between the B-pillars. TVR glued a bit of vinyl on the tube to reduce the friction but it peels off and the tube rusts... hence the fraying. Pair of Mini seatbelts would cost what, £20 from a scrappy? A day to free the brakes, day to do some bushes... sounds like someone has realised they're fast approaching their realistic profit margin so is cutting their losses.
I could be wrong on all counts, of course wink

When i bought mine (a long time ago) it had been stood on a forcourt for bout 5 months, and my first two journeys resulted in getting a tow!! fuel pump first then, clutch master!! But after thet and a bloody good service (and use every day) she never missed a beat..
I though that car could be back on the road for not a lot, this is a voice in my heads that screams nearly 2.5k for a motor with no mot?!?!?! are you mad? lol

All VERY good points there wink And interesting what you say about the MINI seatbelts. Is that the source of the belts in the wedges? Mine are very 'sticky' i.e. don't retract properly. There's a mini in a local breakers which could yield a pair.... scratchchin

Some people say that there's too much belt on a Mini reel but I didn't find that when I used a pair - and I took them out of the Mini so I know that's where they came from!
Like the seats, it's entirely likely that the belts were sourced direct from the makers who also supplied other Brit car companies so they may well have made a shorter version for the Wedge; all I can say is I had no problem.
