Is there any problem with the use of clear laquer from halfrauds on engine bits, particularly the aav, inlet manifold and plenum?
Im having a few bits cleaned up and was thinking this may prolong the intervals for cleaning them up.

Wasnt planning on highly polishing them, just a real good brush off and degrease.

Hmm. It'll certainly stick but the heat may discolour the lacquer. Either way it'll sooon look cack anyway because the surface of even polished alloy is porous, it's impossible to get an absolutely perfect face so oxidation in the pits will soon spread and lift the lacquer. You can see it on polished rims; you spray the lacquer on and for no apparent reason you get little dimples in the finish... that's the tiny pits.
Aluminium oxide starts to form the instant you finish polishing, it's even more soul-destroying than painting the Forth Bridge biggrin
