Rotating the gear stick?
Discussion
I want to rotate the gear stick so that it is positioned further forwards. There is a kink in the shaft which, looking from the top down, is positioned at about 7pm. This sets the gear knob back from the centre of the shaft to the extension box. I want to set it forwards to 1 o'clock to make the position more comfortable as my car is fitted with race seats and harnesses which interfere with your elbow when trying to shift. Is there a simple way of rotating it or does it just look easier than it is?
You could take the stick out of the remote linkage and swing it 180 degrees...?
As I recall the stick is in two pieces with the two being bonded together through a rubber bush to assist with vibration damping. I imagine if you could break that bond and re-glue the sections, that may work... otherwise it'd mean chopping and rewelding.
