Morning all,

I've just been having a chat with a friend on the subject of LPG, and the problem with the wedge is that there generally isn't enough room in the boot to fit a tank. But then I've remembered the wedge has two fuel tanks.

What are peoples thoughts on removing one of tanks and replacing it with a LPG tank?

I don't think it would be too difficult, and would probably allow the first tank to be fully filled up without have to let the tanks balance/settle every minute whilst filling.

If the situation arises though where there is no LPG available, would it be too detrimental to just having the one fuel tank? I imagine the range would be very limited.

Any thoughts?

I don't think you can get custom shaped tanks made easily but I was thinking that you could use a vertical toroidal tank in place of the spare wheel. Do drop heads have a full sized spare?

I never realised Wedges had 2 tanks - how does that work??

My other cars are LPG and I'm a big fan but I wouldn't like to lose the petrol tank - aside from having to pre warm the gas (alot of systems start on petrol and then automatically switch over after a minute or two) if anything went wrong with the LPG system or you run out ......

If you typically do low mileage it will take a few years to recoup conversion cost (systems from £1k - £2K) but a 'doughnut' tank (on its side) or torpedoe/cylinder should work quite well with the roof configuration.

I've seen a Chim with LPG but no other TVR's - anyone else aside from GasWedge?

Hi Mate..If you think about it theres not much room under there for a big tank so a tank either side of the prop was the only real solution..The drivers side tank is filled and then the second tank is filled via a 2" connector hose and the the fuel is taken from both via the swirlpot or a large "T" as in my case..I think in most cases the fuel sender is on the drivers side..Twin fillers give the option to fill either side..(Obviously)..There is a diagram in the bible of the layout..Cheers..Ziga

Yes John's [gas wedge] is the bks the way it's been fitted, only down fall is you loose space in the boot.
He keep's telling us how much it was for that 200 miles he'd just done doing the Rusty run and it was around £20-£25 and you think that's good and for us it's about £50.
We do around 4000 miles/year thats approx £980, going gas would be £490 not bad saving in 1 year, 3 yrs and it's paid for.
