I'm nearing the stage of getting the SEAC manifolds off and remade/replaced. Can the manifolds be removed with the engine in situ or does the engine have to be lifted/tilted/removed altogether?

I'd also appreciate if anyone can confirm that their manifolds are the same as the ones in the photos; and if anyone knows a good source of new ones.

AFAIK you can only get them both out with the engine mounts off and the engine on a jack so you can move it up/down side/side.

They look similar to the one's I've seen.

The look like those on my 390SE; the nearside will come out easily enough, the offside needs the starter removing as I recall... maybe the engine mount too, it's been a while.

Replaced mine last year, they look the same as my 400.

N/S will come off no problem, O/S will need the engine mounting removing and the starter motor to drop it out.

Hope you get some that are a better fit than mine were, took me months to get them right. In the end I modded them myself with a professional doing the welding. They were stainless, cost an arm and a leg and were from the most recommended source on here.

I never remove the starter but you need the front of the car raised by around 18 inches to get enough clearance underneath.

As for engine mounts I put in 3" long bolts (the ones parallel to the bulkhead) so I can loosen them right off and move it up, then it's easy to re-align them just by tightening them up again.

They look loke the ones i removed from my SEAC. 4too 2too 1.
I manages to temove both with out taking off any engine mounts but the started needs to come off though.
I got my full system from Act after they double skined the box, skid plated the rear section too. Fits in nicely and and sounds good....

Thanks for the input, it looks like I can get an exhaust off the shelf. I was assuming that an engine with a dry sump would have a trick exhaust too but it appears not, that makes it easier for me!
