Waiting to hear from Richard at RT Racing but i need an ARB drop link and a poly eye bush(top) for it for the 450. The thread is very tired on the driver's side and i cannot get the nut to bite with the new bushes on, and i shagged the eye bush extracting it ready for the new/replacement drop link.

Anyone got any speares or know where i can get them?

I believe my ARB is 25mm diameter.

Cheers

Jimbo

Yes mate but decided against those because of concerns regarding wear. People more knowledgeable than me have said don't do it..........

I'm not sure where this has come from as I had very few people talk to me about premature wear.

There are a lot of "Chinese whispers" about rose joints wearing. Generally it goes along the lines of "don't do It as I had a mate that .... " Usually from a source several times removed and then from a situatiuon which is nothing to do with reality. It is usually to do with metal to metal rose joints which require constant lubrication. I don't use these and the joints I use are teflon lined so that the teflon layer wipes the ball race to keep it clean. Indeed lubricating these type of joints is the last think to do as this help grit to stick to the surfaces and hasten any wear.

The other issue is that people believe that the bolt is the bearing and so don't tighten it sufficiently so that the joint moves on the bolt and this gets classed as wear... where in fact nipping up the bolt is all that is needed to remove the "wear".

If you are worried about wear, the originaI setup is not a fit and forget as requires the bushes to deform to allow the suspension to move. This leads to rapid wear and eventually the bushes crack and break, especially the one that goes over the ARB. I was wearing through the standard bushes about every 6-8 weeks on my wedge which is what prompted the development around 2000. Yes the car was tracked and sprinted but it was getting silly. The units on my car are still the original prototypes BTW.

If the droplinks show wear in the first year, I will replace them as they are under warranty. If it is after that, I generally look kindly on the situation. I would expect them to last several years but like any component it may need replacing as nothing lasts for ever which is why there are refurb kits on the website.

I'll echo that - one of Steve's links snapped on mine after a couple of years (probably 15k miles) and he did a good deal on a replacement set.

But the refurb kits now on the website are even better value and will sort out the common points of wear and failure.
