I was thinking the other day, is there anyone out there that still owns the Wedge they bought from new? or is there anyone who actually bought a Wedge from new but no longer owns it?
I would be interested to hear such stories as it must have been a proud moment to purchase a Wedge brand new. I can just imagine a Wedge gleaming throughout just delivered from Blackpool being driven out of the show room. I can almost sense all the Wedge owners' juices in the forum beginning to run at such a thought. Well thousands of people must have experienced this rare moment as we are now the owners of those Wedges. After all the Wedge is no ordinary car. Its a Beast.

Bought my 450SE new in 1989, kept it for ~5 years/60k miles. The noise was the best part. Had some good owners since, now with JMF894 and still looking good @100K+ miles!

As DavidY says I bought my 390 from new and still have it.

I bought it from Drakes Broughton near Pershore and drove it slowly (running-in) all the way home to Reading.

In the intervening years it has been used daily sometimes but most often only on high days and dry days, it has been to Zolder nearly every year (except the last two because of unemployment).

It has done about 56K miles and the usual things have happened:- Exhaust replaced by PD Gough, excellent. Two camshafts worn out, batteries (about 5), bottom end rebuild when one of the camshafts went. Tyres galore, they just get eaten through at the back. Distributor drive cog failure (at Zolder). Cracks in the chassis under the driver's ample behind.

During the first year I managed to come off the track at Beckets (Silverstone) but although the damage front and back looked bad it was mostly bumpers and spoilers - very little to the main tub - but it did need a respray.

I have never cosseted the car (except regular services and limited cold revving) so it isn't immaculate - but that suits me because I am not so wonderful myself.

Met a guy at the backhome event last year with a white 450se that he'd had from new. Very low milage and in very good nick. Even had the original water/washer fluid in it that was put in at the factory.

I bought my new SEAC back in 1987 sold it in 91 and bought in back in 2010 exactly 19 years to the day after I sold it. Only one registered keeper between my periodsd of ownership.
Having said that there aint many parts of the "original" car left.
