I am trying to get my newly-aquired Series 1 on the road asap. (280i).

The car has the upright type rad, but has had twin fans fitted, which don't appear to come on when they should. One of them is not working anyway. (tested off the car)

I can't work out where the otter switch is located, certainly nothing attached to the rad.

In the meantime I've taken off the fans and their mounting frame.
I would have just wired them through a 'manual' switch
if they had both worked, but I can't see one being enough.

Does anyone have a viscous fan, until I've sorted the electric ones ?

I shall be visiting the scrapyard tomorrow

Yep, should be bog-standard 2.8i Granada Mk. 2 or Capri.

Now you try to find one in a scrappy...

May be worth persistng with the electric fans; the viscous can be a pain in the parts in hot weather when stuck in traffic. My car had no shroud round the fan so all it did was stir the air in the engine bay, rather than drawing it through the rad. I believe that was standard, too....!

Yes, I'll look for a leccy one that'll fit the hole where the u/s one went, while I'm strolling around the scrappy.
Cheers - G.

PS, typical isn't it - used to have the correct viscous fan and shroud, that I'd junked after an old engine transplant a while back - c'est la vie !
