Looking to collect a few useful spares for the 450 so................

What is the difference between red/blue/black distributor caps? I don't want to spend a small fortune, i just want something that will get me home/keep me mobile in the shorterm etc

AND

Would my ingnition module be 2 or 3 pin without looking?

AND

I will soon be refurbing the rocker covers so is there a certain type of rocker gasket i should go for?

AND

Is it worth getting a spare fuel pump and is it worth fitting an in line fuel filter BEFORE the pump?

Cheers guys biggrin

Where are you getting your fuel pump from and is it for a carb or EFI engine?

I have an EFI fuel pump fitted to a V8 converted to carbs so want to change it. If you want and EFI fuel pump let me know.

I am not sure but I thought the fuel filter went before the fuel pump so the crud from the tank didn't damage the fuel pump. That is where I was planning on putting it anyway.

Ideally the swirlpot should have a mesh filter inside..The fuel filter on your picture is a high pressure filter and would be no good for pre-pump fitment..That one normally goes after the pump..You can get an in-line fuel filter for pre-pump fitment but as its on the low pressure side it will need to be large enough to feed the pump..You shouldnt need a pre-pump filter if your swirlpot is ok...Ziga

Swirl pot filters where crap coz they get blocked and ya can't clean em,hence I dont think the new swirl pre have em fitted, there's been stuff on here about pre- filters in the past including input from myself but is have to look up details to be able to quote names, type etc. Use the search facility to bring it up,I can say I fixed my new pump and filters to a modified removable plate with a rubber cover to keep all the crap off the shiney bits. Just a note to say I'm gonna have a go at the wheels and I've ordered some 10 point sockets for the split rim fixings, john.

Jim , I rang ACT , Tim Lamont and as he has had a few wedges himself he knows all about which bits to get and the last time I had some stuff he sent it post free , I would think thats still the deal. I bought a black dissy cap by the way.

Use the rubber rocker cover gaskets, the cork ones shrink and in my case deposited a load of hot oil on the exhaust manifold... not good.

I had decided on the rubber ones Martin thanks. I'm running a blue dizzy cap at the moment, must try to take it off soon and check the inside for wear.

I've never had any problems with the blue distributor caps, however I have had three rotor arms fail due to tracking through the plastic - no visible signs, just no sparks!
