Getting the headlight pop up connected - how

The little rod connecting the headlight to the motor has popped off (with a friends kid help)

Anyway to connect it back up other than sticking my hand through the hole underneath and swearing a lot?

My hand is not the right shape and doesn't bend in the right directions to connect it.

Pull the pod up, unscrew the headlamp bowl and take the lamp out, then you can get your whole arm in.

I'd disconnect the battery when poking about in the pod. You never know then these things will come to life and I assume you like your fingers
