Is The Wedge A Man's Car?

Is the Wedge a man’s car?
I am going to need some help and some views from fellow Wedge owners on this subject.
I always thought that the Wedge is a man’s car. Designed by men, built by men and driven by men. It had never crossed my mind that women might even be remotely interested in them. Well, I would like to share an experience with you going back many years now and perhaps you can give me your views on the matter.
My earliest recollection of a Wedge was when my brother in law and I started looking through the E&M and other magazines for the fastest car on the road. We came across, (which was a fairly new introduction on the car market then,) a car called the TVR 420 SEAC. We looked through several magazines and quickly established that this car was by far one of the quickest cars on the road. We wanted one. The year would have been around 1988 and the SEAC was extremely rare. We managed to locate a one owner, 420 SEAC in the E&M and my brother in law wanted me to make the call as I knew more about cars in general, but he was the one who wanted to buy it. I picked up the phone and dialled the number. A lady answered the phone and I asked if I could speak to her husband. She told me that she is not married. I said well ok then give your boyfriend. She told me that she doesn’t have a boyfriend. My patience was wearing thin now and I shouted down the phone. ‘OK then, give me the man who owns the SEAC for god’s sake.’ To which she replied ‘Why do all you men think that us women don’t own powerful cars?’
Well I never. I was completely gobsmacked. For the first time in my life I was lost for words. Here we had a woman who had bought a TVR 420 SEAC from new, when there were only, I believe seventeen produced and was selling it on just one year later to replace it with a purpose built track car. I though well, whatever next.
We did buy the 420 SEAC in the end for £17500.00 and it was an incredible car, but I always thought a Wedge was a man’s car. A car with Power, Muscle and Presence.
I mean, answer me this. Would you sell your cherished Wedge to a woman? Or for that matter, is there a woman now amongst us that owns a Wedge anywhere?

From that story it certainly sounds like they're owned by sexists!
I could put you in touch with a Supercharged Lotus Exige driving TVRCC member who's been regularily beating her Sagaris owning husband on the track in their shared Locost racing car this year, I think she'd put you in the picture

Hi Tony,
Welcome to the 21st century, there is a woman in the Wedgedome at the moment with a red 400SE. There are a few up and coming women race/rally car drivers out there as well, so if a woman came to me to buy my car who was very interest and had the correct soapies then Yes i would sell her the car.

Im a Lady...
..Seriously though..I love a woman that drives a powerful car it shows she takes no s
t and likes to be the boss and thats cool with me..(I like to be dominated..To a degree)..A couple of weeks ago while on my way to surrey i stopped in traffic opposite a porsche carrera 4..Inside was a stunning lady smiling like a cheshire cat at me..I felt somewhat inadequate in my 280i and grinned boyishly back..I then pointed at her car and gave it a double thumbs up..She blew me a kiss and continued on her way..
..I however was awe struck and had to be reminded by drivers behind me that it was clear to move on..AArrhh how romantic..Where are you my mystery girl??

Now this, for instance, is a man's car:

It's a man's car because it is genuinely fast and genuinely challenging to drive. Andy Wallace recently described his first time at Le Mans in the XJR9, telling of his first time at 200mph on the Mulsanne straight coping with the ruts whilst thinking "This is jolly fast, i want my mum" when another XJR9 went past him like he was "tied to a post".
Anyway, i think all this is possibly why I'm happy to drive hairdresser's cars. All road cars are hairdresser's cars in reality. Apart from the beardy ones of course.

Gentlemen, gentlemen. We are going completely off topic here. Some of you are talking about dominatrix others are talking about super super cars. What we need to establish here is 'Is the Wedge a Man's Car?' and do women have an interest in their ownership? A few of you have suggested that women have owned Wedges in the past because of ownership on their log book. It could just be that it was registered in the wife's name for insurance purposes. By ownership I mean buying a Wedge, driving it, cherishing it and participating in the forum and activities. It's funny how NO women have come forward. Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against women owning a Wedge or any other TVR. Some women like power and competition, and why not, but until one comes forward and says 'Hey I an a woman and I love my Wedge' I'll keep on wondering.

There was a cream-ish 350i FHC at some gathering (the BNG?) at Chatsworth a few years back that was owned by a lady from (IIRC) County Durham; she'd had it a good few years I think.
In the time I've owned my car I've had three lady friends; only one has ever expressed any enthusiasm for driving the 390 - although she still prefers the view from the passenger seat.
