Hi guys, bit of a long shot, but i'm looking for the rear wheel arch spats for a 400se.
The black bits of rubber type material that go in front of the rear wheel arches to prevent stone chips.
The previous owner of my car had already sorted the chassis, so I've moved forward with the bodywork.
It had the usual stress cracks, flat paint and TVR build quality, so a classic coachworks up here removed & repaired the damaged areas, shaved the bodywork to improve the shutlines, rubbed all the body by hand to remove the corrugated effects, and repainted it in the original colour cooper green metallic.
Some piccies below.
It's taken around 3 months to get to this stage, but I'm missing the rear spats.
I'm not sure if you can buy these, or if it's a mask up and paint job.
Any info gratefully received.
Cheers
John.

Thanks Mike, it's now shiny and smooth.
Off the road for winter, so didn't manage to get it out for a run after getting it back from the coachworks.
Patience is a virtue, good things come to those who wait and so on I suppose!
Thanks Blaine.
I take it then it's a case of masking a suitable shape and letting go with a can of black stoneguard?
Got the impression from what was on the car it was some type of overlay, which is why i asked the question.
Cheers

When I eventually get mine re-sprayed I will be going for Armourfend or Ventureshield in all the vunerable places (the clear paint protection films) but I agree with Blaine that the black is painted on.
That's a good idea Dave, hadn't thought of that. The first stone chip I get will make a grown man cry.
The areas behind the rear tyres takes a pounding from stones as well, which wasn't too apparent until the car was being stripped.
Might go down the clear film route; I'm a bit reluctant to make a pig's ear of the spats with black paint knowing my luck.

Well done for looking after the beast and sorting her !
Thanks CombineOwes me a small fortune, but will be worth it next summer I'm sure.
I haven't used the car since buying it around 18 months or so ago, the only mileage added to the car was bringing it up from Doncaster to Glasgow.
Been too busy getting it right as she was letting herself down in areas.
Next mission is the interior (seat and dash needs repaired, veneers to fit) - I have a chap who is going to sort it for me once he has finished the interior of his Maserati Biturbo Spyder.
Cheers

Hi John
Great work so far mate!
I too have only managed a handful of miles since buying her January 2010 because of restoation work and then a numpty running into the back of my SX..
Like you say mate the waiting will be worth it in the end!!
What do you have planed for the interior?

I was gutted when that numpty ran into the back of your car, but it is looking fantastic now mate.
Pic of my interior below at the minute, plans as follows:-
Got new veneers from Hotty, the black paint is presentable on the dash, but it's not right.
Leather at the top of the dash near windscreen has lifted / come away, requires repair.
Driver's seat is lying to one side, requires removal and frame repair.
Leather etc. needs properly cleaned.
Got new sd1 gear knob and hand brake handle (previously had metal items which didn't suit the car).
Ideally would like bezels and door strip veneers to finish off the interior.
Like I said above, I've got a chap to do the inside work when he's finished his current project, he's respected locally.
Then I will find something else to do no doubt!...
Cheers
