How much oil should the rover SD1 gearbox hold.
According to the hand book and the bible its 2.5 pints.

The bible also says that the oil level should be level with the bottom of the filler hole.
It also says that the capacities are approximate and the levels in the gearbox should determine how much oil to use.

Ive just changed mine and it took 2 ltrs to the bottom of the filler hole.
Does this sound about right?

Can you put too much oil in the gearbox? (when it will settle to its own level at the filler hole)

Could too much oil cause a problem?

Cheers Tim

Haven't got the capacity to hand but if the wedge is level and the gear oil is level with the filler you will be right . have changed mine and was a straightforward job , just make sure you check it after going for the first run out .
