At the Heritage Motor Museum, Gaydon this morning, Richard Hammond recorded a piece for Top Gear on the Rover V8.

Leaning on the last engine produced, he was surrounded by vehicles (including an ambulance) powered by the V8.

The greatest number of cars from a single marque was provided by Tivs, and the greatest number of models from the marque was provided by our very own WEDGE.

The four BBWs there were Phil Grover's 350i, my 390SE, Karen Hyde's 400SE and Neil Hyde's 420SEAC.

But, guess when the show airs?

That's right!

On Sunday,

July,

...

the 18th!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You'll all have to motor swiftly but safely back from BBWF to see it.

Me, I'll be abroad, so SWMBO had better video it, or D.I.V.O.R.C.E. will be mentioned.

Cheers - Streaky

Jason - no, but it does come with four guys to push it around ... and it has no brakes!

Can't wait to see the video of the programme ... we know what was going on behind the scenes ... and how many takes it took. Hammond (as we called him ), however, made no errors and was not only word perfect each time, but guesture perfect too. He's a personable guy too.

Once all the cars were lined up (the first time, before they started shuffling them around), the director announced, 'Welcome to "You've Been Framed"!' ... which was a relief, as when we saw that Hammond was the presenter we were worried that it was not "Top Gear", but actually "Brainiac", and that he was going to blow all the vehicles up! BTW - they've just finished filming a new series of "Brainiac" and they have the largest explosion ever ... of a caravan! Apparently Hammond hates them as much as JC does!

Seamus, - I have a copy of the TVR Top Gear special is you want me to copy it for you.

Neil, Anyone....
How did the new Top Gear thing on the V8 get organised? I mailed them a while ago suggesting they did a piece on the V8 and offered my car as an example of 'nothing sounds so good as the Rover V8' but never heard anything about this.

FWIW : Wedges needed for BBC Top Gear shoot!! , but they didn't want a 450SE, just one off each of a 350i, a 390SE, a 400SE and a 420SEAC (and a Chim, a Griff and a V8S) - Streaky
