I have after 3 months of ignoring the problem at last dismantled my sticky headlight, looks like the problem was a bad contact on the "down" limit switch, easily fixed with some contact cleaner.

While it's all apart I'm going to refurbish the headlamp mountings as well. The flimsy steel mounts have seen better days and are distorted quite badly so I'm looking at replacing the plates with some 3mm Aluminum suitably powder coated.

I have a strange bracket with a 2" chunk of what appears to be heater hose attached to it attached to the bottom, is this some kine of crude anti-vibration device ?

That was a top innovation of the day..Its called a headlight stop..Its what is used to rest the pod on when closed so that it lays flush with the bonnet or a stop for when its raised..Its very technical and can be adjusted!!..Marvellous engineering..Ziga

It Doesn't work either, pods never sit flush with the nose and the "Marvelous engineering" is twisting the bit of not so Marvellous engineering it's loosely attached too - Looks like an opportunity for improvement !

Definitely worth improving..I was going to do it to mine after i tried bending my "marvellous piece of engineering" to make the pods sit flush but it snapped and the mounting point has rusted beyond help!!..Its on the job list!!..

Like I said on one of the other threads, mine has a 'repurposed' (i.e. bent) shelf bracket with a piece of heater hose and a cable tie.. Looks crude, but it works well, and costs bugger all.
Nobody will see it when it's all assembled anyway.

Took a bit of time to get my pods all working smoothly after I bought mine many years ago, but has been pretty reliable since....
