In order to change the rear gearbox bobbin mounts? If yes then do i have to disconnect the prop to gain sufficient movement?

Doing this tomorrow chaps hopefully.

I did it with the gearbox out so don't know about the situation in-situ; but the rubbers are at about 90 Deg to each other so raising the gearbox more than a small amount would make them snag on the chassis plate. In any case the propshaft UJs wouldn't be a problem, they can take up quite an angle without a problem; plus there's a splined sleeve to take off the axial load.

Looks to me like it'll be a fiddly job with the gearbox in place - good luck!

Jimbo,

You'll have to jack the gearbox up around 25mm or so to be able to screw the rubber bobbins into gearbox. When lowering it back down again the studs will not go directly into the holes in the chassis both together. I got one located and then had to force the other stud across (bending the rubber bobbin) until it located. Its not that difficult to do. use a screw driver to lever it over and keep your fingers out of the way.
I would think its possible with the prop shaft on but as mine was out at the time I can't say for sure.

Dave.

It's gonna have to wait. Didn't have much time this morning. I wasn't happy jacking the 'box up too much with everything connected.....a few creaking noises made me nervous. I did get the lower bobbin nuts undone and managed to loosen off one of the bobbins so in principle it shouldn't be too hard, i'll just have a nother go when i have more time.

Instead i waxoyled some lower chassis parts and replaced some exhaust mounts instead...................

Can't tell you as this is one of the few jobs tha I can sa I didn't do myself! It was in the garage having some other work done and I said 'can you do that ehis your there' and changed all the bushes on the gearbox and also on the cradle at the top too-WOW! What a difference it made!

I've only driven a couple of wedges but both had really quite tricky gearboxes and particular aim required for third and this cleared my gearbox problems smile

Enjoy the result!!
