Hi Jeff..Yep..Sorry i forgot to add that in the list, But yes tried TR6/7/8..Stag..Spitfire..I will probably fit a push button starter..Its easy enough..Well once ive got under the car to fit one end to the solenoid...Im going to have the connections tested as i have a feeling the switch is failing...Cheers..Ziga

Spray electric contact cleaner in back bit.
Dry graphit powder in the key bit.

Don't have a big arse bunch of keys hanging from the switch.

To fit a push button you don't need to get under the car.
You just need to intercept the starter wire from the rear of the switch.
Often a yellow or black/yellow. Splice in your wire and run it to your push button.

Prior to that, check sol op by shorting the 12v supply and the starter wire in the socket that the plug plugged in to.

As the column assembly is TR7 (at least on the early ones), I would guess that the switch is too.

It's definitely a later type, as it has several functions not actually used by the wedge (like offside parking lights).

As to what actually fits - ANY of the Triumph (and possibly some BL) will physically fit to the key housing.

Zig - please, please go buy a multimeter and then you can check whether the switch is at fault and the whole wiring setup for your starter. It will save you heaps of money, HONEST !.
