Just checked that my recharged battery got the tvr started and thought I'd leave it ticking over for 20 mins or so.

Anyway as I live in a block of flats some bloke on the first floor opens his window (at 7.00pm) and says "Oi....fella.....do you wanna do that in the morning ?"
Now, my initial reaction was to tell him where to go but then I thought I don't really fancy the tvr being keyed etc so I relented and slowly made my round to the ignition (was mucking about with my drivers side pod that has decided not to rise just 1 day after the MOT !!!) and switched it off. "Thank you" was the tw*ts response.

Mind you my 390 is bl*ody noisy to be fair !!!

What I want to know is have you got any funny stories of neighbourly complaints about the noise levels ?

One across the road threatened to kill me, something along the lines of "start that at 4:30 in the morning again and you are dead". He has moved now. New neighbour wanders over and I think here we go again, but he patted the wing and said something along the lines of good British car.

Edit. Another chap around the corner wants me to rev it up some more......

We moved just before Christmas, at the old house I had to drive up an estate road past a small children playground to get home, they always yelled 'rev it up' I did blip it most times, If the parents were there they always had a smile.
At the New House the first time I started the wedge the women next door 65 years old plus came round as she thought I had started some Garden Machinery !! She is OK with it to, as most people are.

Mine is not very quiet either smile

Excellent, keep the replies coming everyone biggrin

Seems there are only a few moaners about.

Just remembered that when my old 350i did start (Ralph, how's it going ? Hope you're getting there mate) after the new clutch, there was plumes and plumes of black smoke billowing out of the exhaust which just happened to be heading towards a ground floor flat with the window open....Oops.....anyway the woman who lived there was not best pleased and was shouting asking me to stop it. The funny thing is that I could hardly see her due to the exhaust gases and couldn't see ser through smoke....

Aren't TVR's brilliant smile

One Saturday back in the summer a young lad across the road was kicking a ball around with his dad, it rolled over towards me and as I tapped it back to him he said "thanks, my mum says what time are you going to wake us up this Sunday"?

Behind my grages is a row of house, now most people who live in them and the sorrounding houses are OK when I start a TVR or two up on a Sunday morning. But there is always one (In fact two/three as her younger sister lives next door and the mother lives down the road.) She complains if I start up before 10.30am, she even complained to the local council. Who then wrote to me, stating, that starting up after 9.00am was OK. but not before on a Sunday. hehe

Now at this time I didn't have my SEAC!
Boy she regrets complaing now, as when I was working, I used to take it into work on a Sat morning, leaving home at 4.15 am "what sweet revenge" !
The funny thing is her husband often askes me to fix his car! Any ideas what I say at times to that?

Andy, I cant see a problem with that if you only start one or two! What happens if you fire them all up laugh (And hope if you cant do that at the moment, you can soon!)

Kelvin

What planet do you come from biggrinlaugh

Getting two TVR's to start can be a strugle, let alone all five, especally as four are "wedges"
But when I do the noise is fantatic, just on tick over alone!

Thanks for your comments about me starting them soon. My legs are taking longer to mend than we hoped. They are letting me go home for a few weeks, as they can't do anything till they mend! So with the help of Mr Sheen I might hear them from my bed soon!

The front collector split on mine and it went really loud!!!! I used to try and sneak down my road on tickover (very loud) and a jag owning guy from round the corner pulled up one day and asked if I'd give it some beans when going past his house, as he thought it sounded great! There was I expecting him to complain.

My late night arrival is usually paired with car alarms going off, even when i'm crawling along in 5th gear to keep things as silent as possible. Love it!

Two old ladies were chatting just outside my house as I arrived home in my Wedge, and in the way of an apology I said 'I hope its not too loud for you ladies' to which, surprisingly, one of them replied 'no, not at all, it sounds nice and throaty'

Shortly after I sold my 350I in November a neighbour came over and accused me of making him late for work.

I was a bit puzzled at first until he explained that I leave for work at about 8:25am, my neighbour sets his alarm for 8:15 and he used to use my Wedge as his snooze alarm ten minutes later! biggrin

I had a visit from the local constabulary. I leave at 6-00 every morning for work and it appears that the noise from the wedge (everyday drive then) was disturbing someone’s beauty sleep. He started the conversation with "this is going to be the funniest conversation I have had as the car is taxed and road legal". After that we went on to talk about cars, he had not seen a wedge before (young lad) so showed him the TVR and the lotus, let him sit in both but he said we shouldn't start the wedge in case it upset someone when he was there.

Needless to say I have now moved and my nearest neighbour is about 500 hundred yard from the garage with the next probably nearly half a mile. Noise is now not a problem!

I've got one neighbour who is a budding drummer, and another who buys and sells superbikes.... They're still not as loud as the Wedge though evil

Have to say one of the best comments was on a TVRCC run back through Castleton, where a load of punters at a pub were yelling at us to 'give it some'

14 TVR's on the overrun or blipping the throttle between dry stone walls. Fan bloody tastic.

had plenty of dirty looks before but the best comment to date : "Sounds like the 4 horses of the bloody Apocalypse !"

Coming back soon less precats and with an extra 200 horses. Looking forward to breaking glass !

Best moment I can recall was being in the BBWF 2007 Sunday convoy, stopping in (I think) Stow on the Wold and revving up as a Ferrari drove past. The icy glare I received from one particular lady (of some vintage) made me take my foot off the loud pedal !
