Yo!

Should my cabin heater fan be two speed?

It seems to have two positions/clicks but only the second/fast position seems to work.

My switch went a few years back, although I can't remember whether the quiet (faint breathing speed) or the LOUD (slightly heavier faint breathing) part of the switch!

I think it was the fast part...

However, mine it was the switch.

It's actually from a tr7 and is a headlight switch which tvr changed the logo. You can either rub off the headlight icon on the front or you could do what I did and take the switch out of the new one and put it in the old body so it looks the same as the rest. Got the switch from dimmer brothers smile

Its called a TVR fan..hehe..Mine breaths on the windscreen at high speed as well and is silent on low..I changed my switch for a new style rocker but its still the same..The motor is probably knackered and the flaps that close off the sections between the screen and the floor are probably non-existent..Someone in a motor factors said to me that some have resistors that fail and are better being wired straight to the live feed?...Although dont quote me on it...Ziga

Esprit used the same switches as well with the same logo's. I got a used one from Douglas Valley Breakers when mine went.

On my 400SE the heater blower doesn't work at all, but when I put the switch on, it does draw current. Do you think that could be a resistor fault, or is it just the fan mechanism knackered?

I think the only way of telling is to really take the plunge and take it apart..I dont think they were the best of fans anyway..I need to sort mine although i was planning to disable mine and go for a control valve and bulkhead fan but will have to see...Cheers..Ziga

Seems to be a common character - my series 1 350 fan is the same (all or nothing) and has been like it for the last 25 years. Solution, drive topless....roar on.
