You are right, land-rover standard stuff should be no issue to get one.
Even new ones out of the box can be not ok, bought two when I needed one....

Alternatively - you could blank off the hole and fit a manual over ride switching it off and on when you need to.

Make sure you get one with the nut as part of the brass casting. The first one i bought had the nut as part of the plastic casting on top and as soon as the metal thread nipped up into the manifold the top just started spinning on the thread and therefore would not tighten up.

The duff one was from Rimmer brothers (who did give me a refund), the replacement i got from my local garage........as said standard part.

I had exactly the same issue with the rimmer bros part. Got my good one from Rpi.

The one i removed was all plastic, stupid design as the nut rounds off, hopefully i should have a new one today, quick question can i run the car without it leaving the link wire in place??

Many thanks

Are we talking fan switches ? if so then you would be better doing as suggested and using an on/off switch, the fan motors are not continuously rated so could go up in smoke, short runs ok but just keep an eye out. smile

You can run it without any problems. Have done this myself without any issues.
It is even possible to just use a correctly rated resistor for the ECU to be fooled in getting a normal operating temperature engine.
