Couldn't we find a home for it? (After all I am in Daventry as I type)

Awaits bolt of lightning from wife

Joking aside, I will contact the owner and suggest he/she advertise it on the PH board if they don't get any bids as someone on here should be able to find a home for a 2+2 surely.

Seriously, what is it worth ?

I was looking for a mk2 cav convertible, but Heck this is interesting at this price. Unfortunately if I bid before talking to wife and without viewing I may as well kiss marriage good bye forever.

Don't know about worth, but I am in Daventry so can try and get a look at the car at lunch time. I would have thought at this price and with the specified work to brakes and suspension, and supposedly a good runner, it looks a good deal, but as we all know, nasties can be hiding under that sweet plastic coating. I am unable to pick up emails where I am, but if you email to my profile with your phone number, I will get suffolkfoxy to ring it through to me. It's owned by someona at a tyre company so a) tyres should be OK, b) usually the associated trades mean mechanics have been dealt with.

Email and we can talk

Your E-mail not working for me !

So this is the message I am sending :

01928 704266 to my desk, leave a message if I am not answering.

I have a problem bidding on this before I talk with wife, and I don't want you to go out of your way just for me to turn round and say no. I suppose if he gets no bids I can always make an offer then.

I have to say that I know nothing about TVR's or Ford V6's but for 2000 quid it imagine it would be FUN. I have young kids so the +2 for short journeys would be a bonus.

Oh is there a 'buyers guide' anywhere on web ?

I have sent the seller my list of daft question anyway see below:

Only five hours to go so I’m not going to be able to view it before sale ends.

I have a list of Daft questions:

V5 ? Whose name ? How long you had it ? why selling ? are you a dealer ?

Hpi check?

Chassis Condition ? Rust ? (Yes I see it has 12 months MOT but there’s rust and there’s mot failure)

Condition of Plastic ? Any crazing ? Has it been resprayed ?

Engine ? Any faults ? Holds Oil pressure ? Uses No water ? Recently Serviced?

Gearbox ? Any Faults ? Rumbles ?

Clutch?

Electrics ?

Basically is there anything wrong with it ?

Is there any service history or old MOT’s to back up miles ?

Mark

Ok, siting here with the owner. Looks pretty clean to me. Please note, mileage 59000 not 49
V5 in owners name (new style, 11 owners) and MOT's since 99 only, showing very low useage
Selling to fund purchase of an xjs convertible
Owner owns tyre centre so will put it up on ramp for inspection, says no known rust problem
Tyres cheap budget put on by previous owner (current takes no responsibility for the choice!!)
Engine starts OK (just dropped in so no 'started before I arrived' games) and sounds clean ( no tapping etc) seems to tick over OK
Electric fan upgrade with manual overide
At least some stainless steel exhaust (not sure about manifolds)
Body looks clean to me, doesn't appear resprayed.
Smell of petrol in car, possibly breather hose perished? They have had tank out and no leaks.
Petrol guage not working
Windows & headlamps work
Clutch, heavy but operational
For age looks good to me
HPI it if you wish. Current owner bought from a long standing customer so didn't bother (knew the setup)
If unsold, owner - 01327 700123 ask for Jim at Jab Tyres - open from 10-2pm on Sunday (Daventry near BBWF)if you want to look
Over to you lot.

Strange that the seller has now contacted me (an hour after end) to say it's unsold if I want to view.

Let me think

carJABba is the winner, but the car is based at JAB tyres.

No ebay abuse here then ?

Shall I report the abuse or talk to wife about it?

I guess if there was no reserve he was just worried someone will come in with a minute to go and bid £1. It did seem odd that the only bid with 10 mins to go was for £2k.

At the end of the day, is it abuse? probably by the law of ebay but if he has contacted you and you are genuinly interested then go and have a look and make him an offer. I dont see what the point of stitching him up is.

Or someone will get a bargain! - not sure why the seller would bid on it - the starting bid was £2000 so it wouldn't have sold for £1 at all. Maybe he gets extra ebay points for a sale or something? Sure it's harmless.

I would think having had 1232 viewers and no bids you can go in a few hundred less than asking and really get a bargain.. good luck..

Talking to my Ebaying mate he said:

The guy has it for £2k but no reserve so 10 mins from end he's panicing cause he's had no bids. If he bid say £3K (or £2.5K) it would still show on bid history as £2K. But If someone had bid in that 10 mins and really wanted it, then he would have bid at least £3.01K to win.

My mate said : The best you can hope for is that he's realised it's not a convertible and not a V8 and therefore no one is interested. (Cruel world ?) (Me? I want a cav convertible so this is a bit of an aside, but I'd enjoy it at the right price)

Anyway I'm due down in Midlands next week so if he's still got it I may pop in.

Hi all - Im a previous 2+2 owner

Petrol smell is standard! They all do that sir

I solf mine on a Y plate for 4500 so 2K is well cheap

Mione was in excellent nick and had the suspension new etc but this does sound good.

They are great fune on back roads and if suspo set up right corner like theyre on rails.

For kids you can bolt in rear harnesses - would recommend this

All in all type car to
