Electric windows...
Discussion
Hi peeps..I thought that i had got away with any issues as regards to the windows.."Oh No"..The passenger side always hit the side of the targa panel which wasnt much bother as you could put the top on and do the window up afterwards but now the drivers side has started doing it?..It did have a slight issue a few days back when it wouldnt go all the way up so i gave it some lubricant and it was ok..Then today..(It was not doing it yesterday)..For some strange reason its now doing the same thing as the passenger side which is a bit of a nightmare as now i have to tuck the window under the side and then push the door from semi-closed to closed..Any help appreciated..Cheers..Ziga
I've been doing that for a couple of years Mark,I need to remove door cards and adjust the bloody things on the cables, need to drop the rear a little, its a manual version of a cerbera in that you have to drop the window a little before opening or closing the doors, its a bugger when ya outside though and you wanna shut the damned things, don't you just love em!

you should find the top stop is adjusted by a bit of bike brake cable and a clamp, it has probably stretched so needs adjusting. take the door skin off to get to it.
Ah..I did see something like that when i was faffing around with it the other day..I did pull the cable gently and wondered what it was for..Perhaps ive disrupted it..So how do i go about adjusting it please adam..Hi John..It wasnt too bad when it was just the passenger side but its s
te now its happened to the drivers side..Cheers..ZigaThis sounds a bit dumb, but just don't wind the windows fully up !! Mine was like that for ages, because the wire broke.
It's only ordinary bicycle brake cable type stuff, nothing special, and it simply goes tight to stop the window going up any more. It's a bit crappy to be honest...
If it is broken, a bike shop has all sorts of little clamps etc which can be useful to fix it.
It does require fiddling about in the door spaces, and it's a bit of a pain, but otherwise pretty simple and obvious....

Hi peeps..Thanks for your offer dave..Well i had some waiting in to do today as i had some parcels delivered so i thought i will have a look at the cable the restricts the window from going all the way up..It had snapped..I then had a dilema..Because of the ingenious design of a bolt in an in-accessible place i had to choose between trying to bend a screwdriver to the point of snapping it or drill a small hole with a holesaw..
.."Screwdriver...Holesaw"..."Holesaw...Screwdriver"..I went with the holesaw..
..Dont panic it was only an 1" cutter, Just enough to get a screwdriver in..The cable was wrapped around the bolt..You would of thought that they would of used a bolt with a hole in it...In fact i might just replace it with one..The cable i had is too thick a gauge so it will be halfords first thing monday and the polished plenum fitted thereafter..Cheers for the help chaps..Ziga
