I got some old stereos of that vintage but pretty sure they are the buttoned variety.

I could help you out with some authentic '80s cassette tapes, not that you'll be able to hear anything. Stereos back then only about 10 watts, if you were lucky. In a wedge, you'd be better off singing!

This thread reminds me of the false facia I used to put on an early CD player that made it look like an old std radio - had pretend push buttons and everything

some to have a look at, I'd check sales brochures if you want to be certain of 80s designs, this first one would have remained in this style into the 80s for Fords at least but perhaps with the added luxery of FM stereo !

1978, not working, offered up for looks only - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PIONEER-KP-5400-RETRO-PU...

1985 - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Classic-BLAUPUNKT-Cambri...

NOS - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Brand-New-Kenwood-KRC-19...

I think I found one in its box when having a clear out. I think I know where it is. PM me if you'd like it.

Ditto! Mine was hiding a £500 (not that I paid that) Pioneer KEX-900 in my Tasmin. It had half a cassette sticking out the front biggrin
See if I can find a pic...

well that's a 70s into 80s style

you'll need to decided if you want FM as well as MW and LW (you might lose LW)
then if it all needs to be fully working radio and cassette, cassette might just need head cleaning and de-ironising (?might have the wrong word there) or head and or motor might be kaput

if you're not in a rush a NOS in the box sometimes comes up (or they did 5 years ago when I last looked)

I put a post on PH recently for a 60s/70s booster amp that's well worth having if it's still for sale it's still around

yes they still are, check with seller for suitability but this is a lovely bit of kit - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NOS-LUCAS-Third-Dimensio...

Here you go... you can see that the fake radio seems to protrude from the dash, that's because it had to wrap-around the rectangular flip-down Pioneer.

I'll never understand some moderation decisions

Topic started in EA General - presumably cos OP was looking for a local solution

Just because the Car in question is a TVR wedge it gets moved here - it could just as easily have gone to an ICE section and it wouldn't have fitted that well either!

No offence intended and I'm not looking for a ban either - just find it all a bit weird
