350i wheels and tyres
Discussion
Hi all.Just after some advice.i was going to buy a set of saturn wheels off a cerbera. They were going to be delivered .Not now .So i will probally be keeping my wheels can i fit wider tyres to the back some thing like 225 60 15.....The tyres on my car are approx 7 to 8 years old..But i have read about age related tyres. One more question can you reccomend a tyre choice .Unless any one has any aves wheels for sale not sure if i have spelt that right loL............Mike 350i s2
I hear you guys but the Mrs B would not be a happy bunneylol....Sorry Solitude i was waiting for delivery of the wheels for free ,But due to the guys family commitments no room in the car for 4 wheels and tyres. All for a good price.Sods law. What do you think about rear tyre size......
Hi Mike, I used 225/50/15 on my 350i, they seem to be as wide as you can go with the standard wheels. The diameter of the tyre is almost the same as the 205/60's so no problems with the speedo readings. I bought Toyo proxes T1R from camskill, cheaper than everyone else by a mile. Just had to get them fitted at my local place, fitting/ balancing was £10 each.

Hi Mike, yes had no problems with those tyres catching the body. They are on the lattice style wheels, the tyre is crammmed a bit on the rim but seems to be fine. They are on the rear only, wouldn't try them on the front personaly they might well catch when on full lock and would make the steering heavier I think.
Best of luck, Steve.
Best of luck, Steve.
Just posting the standard response I do to all of these threads. Standard size was 205/50r15.
I did a load of calculations, and with the standard 3.54 (very short!) rear diff, you really need to preserve the rolling radius, going down a profile can massively shorten your gearing.
There's evidence on my car, that even with the standard 205s, the tyres have caught on the arch at full articulation. I'll be putting the original size back on the car in Dunlop SP Sport 01s

I just bought this set which I am quite excited about fitting! http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/classifieds/3718560.h...
Will look a damn sight better than the Mercedes wheels it is currently wearing albeit fully expect some clearance issues. Just need to get the car fixed now...

Mike, when the 350 series 2 was produced some dealers were using 225's on the rear and 205's on the front (I remember seeing some at Giles Cooper in London. I tried it and have to say I think my series 1 350 drives better with 205/60/15 all round.
The 205's can rub the inside of the wheel arch on full lock so you wouldn't really want wider on the front.
IMHO stick to the standard, they are plenty good enough.
Cheers
