Sort of related .... My old series 1 350 has single pipe system (stainless I had fitted in the eighties) with two silencers - obviously a rear box, but also a second one midway down the car on the passenger side. Often wondered if it could be removed ? It's a dead end type with inlet pipe and outlet pipe on the side end of the box.
I recall reading somewhere that you need a certain amount of back pressure with V8's, so taking it out and putting a straight pipe, would that improve things - noise yes - performance ?
Cheers

Hi Roger
My car is based on a 400se, so orginally it has only one center box anyway and the one in you see in the picture has been shortned, i have spoken in length with Tim (ACT) and in turn he has spoken to his supplier JP Exhaust about any loss in performance which they say wouldn't be noticed but will be a little louder!
My car is going on the rollers today so i will have a base figuer with the original JP system and in a few week time will be back on the rollers so we will know for sure if there is any loss in power?

Hi Andy
I trust in what Tim says, he has owned some big SEAC's in the past and what he supplies to the TVR world works so hopefully the beast should roar as loud as it wistles!!

Yes i was fed up with the way things went last year with the accident and then having to wait 9 months to get my car back, then when i received the car back it was a total mess!!!! But my Patience has been rewarded because BT has just confirmed that they will fund the full cost of the rectification work caused by the said TVR Specialist in Blackpool. It requires a full respray because of the dirt inclusion over the body and the paint will never fully harden as it has been layed on to thick!

So for the third time in two yaers the car will be striped back to a bare shell and repainted by these guys.http://www.washingtoncoachworks.co.uk/ if you look at what they work on i think this time i'm in safe hands, just hope i'm in time for the BBWF..

Adam

No problem with you having a 400SX at least you keep us informed about whats happening. To many cars have have gone abroad and we don't hear what's happens to them! But my question was about the 350SX at Hexham any ideas?
Unless you have purchased this as well?

Maybe Rob (carob) bit the bullet and parted with some well earned to regain the SX experience ????
we must keep a track of these cars, I'm sure Jasper will know soon if not already, Jasper????
