Does anyone know where the black plastic ashtray with sliding lid is sourced from? The one that is on the gearbox tunnel, just behind the gearlever.

In my 350i it is in really bad shape, cracked and melted, so would need a better one. But, in what other car it is used?

I don't think it's SDi. And no-one has ever posted up a possible car it might be from. They are getting rare though....

To this end - would anyone be interested in a re-machined billet alloy one? I have someone who can possibly make them, if I sweet-talk him into it.

wouldn't it be more useful to turn it in to something else...........ipod docking station, would be easy to route cable under centre console from back of head unit idea

i smoke and to be honest i struggle to drive any TVR and smoke at same time, they can be a bit of a handful, requiring 2 hands on the wheel and what with the british road, the tvr can be a bit boucy compared to a modern vehicle so tend to end up poking myself in the head while trying to find my mouth smokin the phrase ashtray on motorbike also springs to mind, if the roof is down don't really see the point!!

could be worse though as when it comes to ashtray positioning TVR really did win the "what the hell did they put it there for" prize on the Chimera!!!

I use mine for receipts, small spare parts such as tyre valve caps, the odd fuse and the like. No fag ends anywhere near mine!

Thats right! That is the best place to keep coins for parking!

I can live happy with a new ashtray - although similar to "a Coupe VW/Audi".
But I cannot with a cracked, melted and stinky old one. wink

I have got a bunch of the alternative ones, if you need one.
