Set off on Friday about 1pm. Filled up with gogo juice near home and aimed the Tiv for Perth, first leg of 180 miles. Roads were quite so an easy run up to the M80 where it got busier. Still, with the roof off it was enjoyable looking at people with noses pressed against their windows ogling me (probably the car though).

Filled up again in Perth and headed for Inverness. A short run this time, only 115 miles. 20miles north of Perth, the road becomes a dream. Long straights for overtaking the dawdlers, mingled with some slight twisty bits to keep you alive. Still with roof down but starting to get chilly. Bit wimpish, I turned the heating up a notch. I refused to put the roof on though.

After really enjoying the A9 to Inverness, I filled up again, small one this time though for the remainder of the journey as I didn't want to end up in the middle of nowhere with no fuel. Only another 110 miles.

And WOW, did I get a shock. The A9 to Wick was even more fun. I'm sure the road designer up there was a petrol head. Straights, long open bends leading into tighter bends and back onto straights. I had found road heaven.
My jacket was now on but the roof was still off. Bloody cold it was though, some snow still on the hills.

I arrived at my digs for the weekend. My boys work lodgings when travelling around the country

On Saturday Morning, Ryan was working so I had a 30 mile jaunt on more wonderfull roads up to>>>>

Seems like they are still building the place hehe

Saturday night was beer time in the local overlooking the bay at Dunbeath. Scampi and chips lick

Sunday was spent fixing Ryan's mates car, new starter motor. Very easy job on a Mondeo unless one of the bolts won't come out. Time to strip out the radiator/headlights etc.

I set off back about 4.30pm and arrived home 11pm ish. Enjoyed every minute of the drive, although it can be boring argueing with yourself about which way to go laugh

Hope I haven't bored too many people with my travelogwobbleread

ETA title was supposed to read 886 miles

Forgot to mention the only scary part. Filled up with fuel again at Perth on the way home. It was now dark, about 8ish I think. On re entering the DC, I give it a foot full of boost up to 70 ish, only to see my mirrors light up with a full disco of blue flashing lights. yikes

As I backed off, they sped right past me and carried on into the distance wavey I wasn't tempted to keep up with them though

Glad you enjoyed yourself TT and the weather was good, i thought it might have been a dense harr or fog on the east coast.
That journey would do the car more good doing 886miles than going up and down to the shops a few times.

You are correct about the weather. Saturday although bright and warm, was hazy most of the day. Not good enough for my bikini eek anyway.

I think the beasty worked out at 24mpg, 36 gallon, £240 or there abouts. Well worth it though. Another picture beside Dundeath harbour, just to show off my PH sticker.

Excellent picture Totpon, that should be in a wedge calander clap

Sounds like you had an excellent weekend of your really nice 400 SE.

I used my 390 SE most of the weekend and today she had the brakes all sorted (new master cylinder) and an oil and filter change smile

I'm using my wedge nearly all the time now and compared with my BM 330d my fuel bill is growing rapidly eek

Who cares though eh...............

I was working up at Dounreay a good few years ago and on the day we left my workmate and I intended to go to Groats just so we could say we'd been there. Then we found Dunnet Head, which is the most northerly point on the mainland, so we went there instead biggrin
A couple of years back I was down at RNAS Culdrose in Cornwall, about 10 miles from Lands End... so I went to the Lizard (most southerly point) instead biggrin

Just need to visit Belleek and Lowestoft Ness to fill in the compass...

I love the A9 from Perth Northwards. Done it many times in the company car for work thinking that I'd love to do the same trip in the Wedge. Alas that won't happen in the near future.

The thing that always got me on the trip to Wick was the number of abondoned crofters cottages on your left, the view in the rear mirror of where you have come from, the open road in front of you and Oil rigs on your right!! You see no one for miles and yet as you come into Wick the first thing you see on your left is a B&Q!!

A great trip on a fab road and one that I'm a bit jealous of you for doing ..... respect!!

By coincidence I'm off up that way tomorrow: quick service call at Rolls East K. followed by a thrash up to Inverness for the night, then dropping in to RAF Kinloss on Thursday followed by a mad thrash back biggrin
scratchchin Anyone around Inverness fancy a jar the morra neet? I'll be somewhere around the Snow Goose at Stoneyfield... unless I get a better offer wink
Just for the craic I might take the westerly route via Ft. William rather than the usual hurtle via Aviemore etc... I do like the A940 from Forres to Grantown to start the return leg biggrin

Sounds like a good run. In May I am doing a 3200 mile trip in my wedge, down to Italy and back though France, Switzerland and Belgium. Have booked the ferry and hotels, now just need to service the car
