Hi all, having just bought an early wedge coupe I am in the process of working through my fairly short (currently!) snagging list. Does anyone have any idea where the boot release mechanism came from? Sure TVR must have borrowed it from a parts bin and mine is badly worn so has a tendency to pop open! If not has anyone found an easy alternative? Can't be the only one out there

Thanks

Not sure what the donor car was, but if you look on EBay the boot solenoid for the Wedges and other models are available fella

The latch mechanism was from the early Fiesta if memory serves (same as the bonnet latch)... early cars had a cable release rather than the electric motor.

Ah ha! Knew it would be off something... TVR, Lotus, Ginetta, all talented at robbing parts bins!

Next mission, trying to find a decent condition MkI Fiesta boot lock mechanism and trying out the theory. Assume dipstick is standard Ford 2.8 V6 from Granada?

Mine also has a rather strange set up on the gearbox, 4spd with no gate but a rotating plate with knob to stop you going into reverse? Somebody has suggested that it has a straight cut gearbox but it doesn't really whine so don't think thats right!

Original ford 'E' type 4 speeder didn't have any springs for forward selection, and just had a spring type 'click' setup for reverse, which didn't do a lot...

That's good to know, I just thought that was something else broken on my car!

Hi Aaron, I had a similar problem with the bonnet catch on a 350, the latch was OK but the pin was worn, a bit of weld to restore the pin back to round cured the problem.

Thanks Mike,

After having had a quick look on Sunday I think thats my first plan of attack!

Mind you, due to impending loss of workshop I might have to pass her on pretty quickly now, had hoped to at least get the summer out of her but developers seem to be determined to ruin that plan...
