Hi Peeps..Well after her recent surgery she is back and making a full recovery..Took her gently up the "A" road..Ooo..That sounds a bit naughty!!..hehe..Checked her pressure when i got back and it seems ok..Gave her a wash down as she was a bit mucky..Dirty hands all over her..mad..One of the valves sound a bit tappy but im going to take her back once she has done a good 100 miles for a check up..A re-tighten and a change of oil and coolant..Boy have i missed her..I also saw a garage that sells 4 star on the way home..I might treat her but its £1.72 per litre..eek..I suppose its once in a while and you have got to keep em happy or they start playing up again...Cheers..A very happy Ziga.

Glad to hear she's back mate.

Make sure they do the re-torque and she will give you years more pleasure wink

Enjoy it while the sun is out, I hear we've got another 4 hours of it before the heavens open frown

Great News !!

Leave the engine alone for a few hundred miles for everything to settle down, and then retighten cyl head bolts (according to correct sequence), then inlet mfold bolts (also in right sequence) and then can check tappets. My advice is to leave them slightly tappy, the Colognes actually seem to like it this way. DON'T set the gaps smaller than specified - you get less power and it tends to burn the valves.

Then check mixture, and you should be set for lots of happy miles.

The ford garage have asked me to bring it back after a 100 miles so they can re-tighten the heads, Flush the oil and coolant out and change it..And re-adjust the valve clearance..I might get them to change the hoses while there at it..Im glad to get it back..Just taking it easy for now...Ziga

It's personal choice, but I tend to leave rebuilds for about 250 miles.... but hey, up to the garage, it's their job after all.

Make sure it gets fully (normal) hot a good few times, it helps everything settle in, but should able to drive it normally right now.
