After picking up my 450 this afternoon having had a full 4 wheel geometry set up and engine check the difference is significant.

Toe in and camber was all over the place at the back and the tracking was out...now it feels far far less nervous on the country roads i like to use inspiring confidence where before there was a little bit of 50 pence 5 pence!

The motor was running very very rich. It was ticking over at 1.5% (whatever that means) but was actually ticking over at 8%!

New plugs and a vernier adjustment on the flapper plus a few other tweaks.

He did comment that the cam was a little wilder than original as well.

All in all very pleased.it's slowly but surely getting 'sorted'.

Now i need to play with the dampers a little more.........................

and upgrade the brakes, and......................

wink

Jim , I'm not suprised you can tell the difference , its money well spent to get the setup right , a much safer car to drive and feeling more confident driving too. By the way we went to Norfolk last sat till tues , but had to spend the whole time doing diy , no fun at all !

Sorry to hear that Jim - we have had 4 in the last 2 months. frown Must be a sign of getting old - it used to be stag do's and weddings!

Think you sent me a text by mistake but glad to read the car is getting better. See you at Chatsworth.

What are the correct settings to the 400/450SE suspension/tracking? I like to give my 400SE a check.

Thanks
Axel

Hi Axel, i'm afraid i dont know the settings as it was all done for me but i would recommend anyone who is unsure to have it checked.

It's so much more stable now.

These are the settings I was given when I had my 400SE four wheel tracking done. I took it in to the guy in the tyre shop that did the settings and he set mine accordingly. He did a fine job because the car handled a lot better afterwards. I Hope this helps.

Tony. TCB.

Here are the generic settings for all Wedges:

The tracking should be set at 3.2mm toe-in +/- 1.5mm

Caster: 3.5 - 4.0 deg. pos.
Camber (F) 1.0 deg. neg.
Camber (R) 1.0 - 1.5 deg. neg.
Toe (in) (F) 0.50 deg.
Toe (in) (R) 2MM - don't know why MM not deg!

2mm on 15inch rims = 0.30 degrees = 18 minutes
2mm on 17inch rims = 0.27 degrees = 16 minutes
Either way it's just a smidge toe in.

15 inch rims 3.2mm toe gives 0.24 degrees wheel to vehicle center-line or 0.48 degrees wheel to wheel.

14 inch rims 3.2mm toe gives 0.26 degrees wheel to vehicle center-line or 0.52 degrees wheel to wheel.

For the front
toe is 3.2 +/- 1.5mm
camber is 0 +/- 1.2 degres (not adjustable anyway is it?)
caster is 31.2 +/- 0.5 degrees
KPI 6 degrees (Not sure what this is?
For the rear
toe is 4.5mm
camber is 0.5 +/- 0.5 degrees (this seems small as the wheels have a visible cambe

I was also told that it drives rather well for a wedge biggrin and that it seems to be running a slightly wilder cam than normal .................

Dix, Schole Engineering nr Diss who I use charge around £70/hour. The actual cost depends on how corroded and siezed all the bolts/nuts etc are which need to be tackled in order to adjust things. I think this can be time consuming.

A couple of hours tops?
