A quick one,

what voltage should I be getting off the alternator when running?

Im getting about 11.45volts with no fluctuations when revving (well, as much revving as I can without the TPS attached)

Im assuming its Fwucked!

Second that..... At 1000 rpm you should be reading 13.8 to 14v fella, sounds like a classic case of regulator failure in the alternator to me!

looks like another thing to end up in bits on the bench tomorrow! and a trawl for a new one...

Hopefully another Potentiometer on its way to me for next weekend because that is Fwucked too!

It's normally a diode pack that fails, and they can often be replaced!

I seem to remember that the official 'correct' range is 13.8 to 14.4 volts.

Does the ignition light come on ?

And for Ford V6 at least, it's not only the diode pack, but the regulator bit can fail as well...

If you're lucky it's just worn out brushes, but the light tends to come for that.
