If i remember rightly Tony was a 120+ on tickover at BBWF 2009. Wedge problems stopped him from entering later in the day.

Hi

Yes the loudest Wedge competition is being held As long as Chedder remembers his meter!

I will be shortly posting up full details of what is happening and approx when!

We will also be needing a few volunteers and this is were any of you can help the organisers.

Back to the Loudest competition, I was thinking off having two classes, Standard systems and Highly modified or we could just ban the Highley modified systems? hehe

Andy

Andy - as a sound engineer I have access to a few SPL meters (not to mention a pretty accurate app I have on my iPhone as a backup)!
Happy to get involved if needed, and would love to enter my 350i with its completely standard, factory system. That measures about 80db at idle - a relative whisper! biggrin

Mine (A350TVR) was 122.2 but not 'officially' placed for some reason - no prizes for second place though...

My Griff (124.6) was 3rd place (TVR) to 2 Chims (126 +) at Neil Garners the other w/e 1st overall being a Lambo Diablo VT with 130 !

By rights Wedges should be the LOUDEST TVR's - come on guys !!

Paul.

Woops incorrect thread hehe

O! no its not!

My SEAC has been recorder at 137 but I think is just a great sound!
When Rose and myself went to look at the car, she jumped with joy when it started (Which is hard for her being disabled) so I had no problems selling the idea of the car to her!
I wish they were all as easy to do!

All depends on what Db weighting you use, DbA, DbC etc, most race tracks tend to use DbC so thats what I set my meter at when measuring the noise output of TVR's at an angle of 45 degrees and 500mm from the exhaust tip
Without going into too much science (boring) the difference between 99db abd 100db is not 1% louder, but basically 26% louder! depending on what reference scale you use.

A Boing 747 on take off measures 130db at 100ft.....any Tiv that reaches that sort of figure is effing loud!

My tiv with sleeved cans makes 126.5, without sleeves =124.3 and with noise reducing inserts 99db, strangely though, it produces most power on the rolling road with the inserts in, so one could assume that the V8 need a bit of back pressure to perform.

Here endeth the lesson laugh

Andy - wasn't that "jumped with fright!" at the noise???

I would have thought all the factory systems would be rotted away by now - we must all be on stainless these days. Mine was probably one of the last but lost all the stuffing and middle a couple of years ago, then the outside of the box finally let go.

No Adam with joy! She loves the noise all the cars make, even more so when she used
to drive them!
