Guys,

Now that I'm old and falling to bits, I'm finding my SW gauges very hard to read when driving, as they are far too fussy. (2.8 series 1)

I'm pretty sure later models went back to Smiths and /or VDO ??

Any good places to buy, and does anyone know what speedo calibration is ?

(I'm pretty sure the 2.8s are all 1000 turns per mile, but would be nice to confirm)

Thanks.

My 1982 200 has Smiths gauges. I really like them compaired to the SW ones. You might get a set at the usual breakers or on e-bay but I've got no idea where you would get new ones.

I can get a photo for you later if you want to see them.

Sorry I've just noticed you're on the wrong side of the world to nip down to Douglas Valley breakers...

Maybe some good soul on here would post them over to you?

No worries, at the moment I'm thinking about what to do.

I could go non-standard, and I do have a couple of full size Smiths sets (Ex Triumph) but they don't easily fit in the narrow dash. I did wonder whether to go to a subtly expanded dash, but I don't think it will look right. I also have a Cortina gauge 'sets' with it's surround, as used in quite a lot of kits, which is easy to read, but would spoil the Classic dash....

Or looking around the breakers (but it will all be mail order for out here) or even get a new electronic one (expensive, but neat if I go to another engine/drivetrain).

And there's always the later 400 type dash moulding....but getting one here would probaby cost more than the whole dash itself !!

Try www.holden.co.uk I've recommended them before for electrical items and they have quite a selection of speedos and gauges. They are local to me and very helpful and are based more towards old vintage but also classic cars. They have loads of other stuff too from electrical, to hardware.
Take a look
Cheers
