Help handbrake mechanism
Discussion
I'm trying to remember what I did with mine.....there was a rub mark, I remember THAT.
I also put a longitudinal spring in between the arms to make sure the handbrake releases more efficiently (and the self adjusters seem to work better too !).
Do the cable 'blocks' have a spacer washer in them ? I seem to remember mine did, and I put the washer on the bottom of each pin to give max clearance, but I can't say that's a fuly reliable memory...Ummm..

If the cable between the arms is far too slack then there is an adjuster on the cable end.
However I always advocate that you set up the calipers first using the big screws on the caliper ends - remove the split pins and screw them in till they start to bind, then give the handbrake lever a few hard tugs, then back it off and keep screwing in a turn at a time till they bind again, then back off half a turn.
After that you may well find that the slack in the cable has been taken up and job's a good 'un.
