help with psi boost gauge
Discussion
ok not sure if i`m being a bit of a numpty.....but!
as i`m running a supercharger I would like to know the boost i`m getting, now what better way than with a boost gauge.
Now I used the centre blank plug on the drivers side (below the join) and modified it to take the fitting.....
I know the boost gauge works I can blow 1 1/2 psi
via the line when disconnected from the plenum.
But if i run the car its reading zero boost.......why? am i missing something?
I have photos but thumbsnaps not working, thats another thread!
Cheers

It's worse than this Tony!
1. When running anything less than 90% WOT you will get significant vacuum so < atmospheric.
2. This applies at any RPM.
3. How did you join the pipe to the middle port on the plenum - did you use a brake vacuum screw-in thingy? If so:
I found that the brake port adapters also have a one-way valve in them. To defeat this get a really stout piece of wire (I used a massive staple off a cardboard box) and stick it into the hole to jam open the valve, then bend the end over so it's trapped by the pipe and jubilee clip (you WILL need a jubilee clip to stop the pipe popping off under full boost).
Stomp on full throttle and you should see 6psi boost.

IT WORKS
I think i`m only getting 5psi though, maybe because it a 350 not 400? i don`t see why that should make a difference........
However as soon as you stomp on it, its straight up to 5psi then it creeps up a bit more perhaps if i hold it, it will reach 6psi?????
Either way it a fantastic sound...
(and that`s with the cool air induction on so it`s not restricting it)
Cheers Adam
