It's not a final decision, but it's looking pretty unlikely I'll be at BBWF this year.
A combination of: Finding lots more faults with the car than anticipated. Cold weather keeping me out of the garage. Lack of cash! Has meant progress has been much slower than I'd have liked.

I could rush the car and get it back on the road (probably), but from the outset I was determined to properly sort the car mechanically.
I've found all sorts of things, worst of which is a split (fractured) tube in the chassis, where it meets the centre 'backbone'.

I'm now just going to take the attitude that the car will be back on the road once it's sorted. And when time and funds allow me to do things properly.

You never know, miracles might happen, and I might be at BBWF, but seeing how there's no rear end on the car at the moment past the prop, and ALL of that needs rebuilding/refurbishing/replacing, I've got a good old haul ahead!

Wish me luck chaps!

Shame but i think you are right in wanting to get it done properly first time round. Good luck.

There's no reason not to pop down to the fest in a tintop or similar mortal car Bob , its a great adrenaline rush to hear wedges sound off on the day !

If you mean where the outrigger tube meets the backbone near the diff, this is quite common, I have welded mine up from time to time. They usually go again after 30k miles, it's more of a maintenance thing.

Bob

It's a shame your wedge is still in bits.
But come along to the event anyway as you will still have a good time. Plus you may see something which may of be use to you in your rebuild!

I went to my first fest wedgeless.

Everyone wants to talk cars (loiter around any car for more than 30 seconds and watch what happens)particularly thier own one.
It is inspiring, and you will go away full of fresh gusto/ideas/information and a new lease of wedge shaped life.
Sure, you wanna go in your car, but don't miss it because its not running.

Thanks chaps, I'll give it some serious consideration smile
You never know - if my old man and I really get stuck in, I could still be there. But there' still lots to do: rear calipers to be rebuilt, new diff to be fitted, chassis to be welded, EFI system to be sorted, all the hoses to be renewed.
It doesn't sound bad but I can't believe how long some of these jobs are taking!
