I'll have a fiver with you that engine isnt making 200bhp.
Apparently technics built a turbo charged V6 cologne that dyno tested at 240bhp & around 260-280ftlbs of torque..Thats with big valve heads..Turbo profiled cam & low compression pistons..The bolt on kit can produce anything from 180-220bhp on stock parts..Also a TVR is a lot lighter than a capri..Admittedly its not cheap and most people swap out for a cossie lump..Then there is a supercharger option..The colognes responds really well to forced induction which is what a supercharger does..It certainly is a cheaper fitting option as well...But it does use 50% more fuel..The ole cologne always gets a bad rap!!..ZigaActually, be careful here...
My understanding is that there were/are TWO Turbo technics specs. The one which used a standard engine with bolt on turbo generated 190-200 BHP (from memory) and the one with the big valve head etc was good for 230-240 BHP.
160-200 bhp isn't that big a jump, so I reckon it's possible.
and I don't think a wedge is all that much lighter than a capri !

Just checked out Wiki-Lies and came up with the following:
TVR 280i = 1074 kg
Mk3 Capri 2.8 injection 1981 - 1986 = 1230 kg
So not a huge weight difference but still about 15% heavier, which will make some difference I'm sure
i'm still waving a fiver on this one. get it on the rollers, no way is it passing 200.TVR 280i = 1074 kg

Looks like a very interesting project for somebody, even the price looks good to me. I know it's a 2.8 but the HP claims are realistic. I'v had over 500 hp from a 2.9 so 230 is easily doable.
the 2.9 is a lot more tuneable though, as i suspect you know from your userID!VinceFox said:
