Late saturday the hood of my newly 390 SE decided to live is own life and jump out of the car (just this way). I was on the highway, stopped, cross my fingers praying that no one will find it "the hard way" and call for help. After one hour, it seems that the hood was nowhere. I finished my trip without it, but now I need to find one new (or old, but in good shape and black).

Any ideas ?

Best regards,

Badcow

Hi Badcow,

Are you sure it's the bonnet, don't confuse with "le bonnet" on your head

More seriously, it's impossible to find a new or used bonnet in France, try UK breakers or place an ad on PH. Or ... you can make a mould of mine.

Envoie moi un mail par le biais de mon pseudo, si je peux t'aider... il est rare de trouver une wedge en France

Thank you. I thought it was impossible to loose it but it take me only three hours of hownership to do that...
The bonnet litteraly jump out of the car, never to be find again (?). A last, there was no accident related to that...

That's pretty bad luck badcow Hope you get your wedge sorted quickly.
Did you sustain any damage to your car when this happened? I take it the bolts holding the bonnet/hood down had come out, did they rip the wings or struts?
I also find it amazing you couldn't find it.

Good luck

Having seen how easily shpubs bonnet left his car at BBWF (alright so I know it's light weight) but they're just the right shape to glide for some distance with the right gust (90 mph?) Hope you get it sorted soon..

In fact, I was running near 80 mph and when the bonnet decided to fly, I found it was fast enough...

Update : the bonnet was found, but on the other side of the highway, with (but I didn't see it myself) only minor damages. There was a strong sidewind so it cross the whole highway like a feather...

Virtually no damage to the mainframe, only the gas-powered strut suffered.
