Having tried to fix the leak on my PAS rack I'm now considering dropping in a manual rack as in interim measure to get me back on the road. The thing is which rack is it eg Cortina Mk4 etc? And will it have the mounting points on the rack as mine have their points as part of the PAS rack or will I require a pair of mounting brackets?

Either way I'm annoyed as having changed my suspension I've not no steering. To quote the imoortal phrase "Some day this war is gonna end."....fecking will it!!

Andy

If you want a manual rack I have a good used one, if you want it at weekend I can have it got out of storage on Sunday.

Or I can bring it to the fest!

Zig, I think all Cortina racks are the same, but only the 2.3 versions had the power steering rack.
So any old Cortina 4/5 should work for a manual rack. You will need a new 'connector' shaft though, as it is different from the PS rack (smaller spline, longer shaft).

As I said on a different thread, my manual steering was MUCH improved after fitting the lower bearing as outlined on TVRpages...
